does anyone know how to get the word "yamaha" off of the seat? A chemical that will get it off without harming the vinyl or whatever?

I used mineral spirits. It took most of it off before I got bored/tired and stopped. With a lil more persistance, that would work.

yeah, we had a discussion on this before...

Some used mineral spirits... I tired with a commercial tar (best stuff I've ever used) remover and it barely touched it...

Others have used brake fluid and said that works...

I even tried a light buffing on it, but ruined my old seat and had to get a new one.

Try "Goo-Off", that or ask your girlfriend or wife for nailpolish remover. Although test the nailpolish in a unseen spot because that might react funny with the leather.

O.k. WD-40 nope, OOPS! - removed some, GOOF-OFF removed some, lacquer thinner- BAM! took it off quick but left some in the 'grain' of the material. Also seemed to dull the surface. When I have used this in the past it is o.k. as long as you don't saturate it or rub too long. Would need a toothbrush like device for the grain. Then some leather polish after. Got to go now for a couple days, I'll do mine this weekend and get back if you wait that long.

It's not leather... I know from experience... simply putting some armorall on that spot and then wiping ot off will make it look like the rest again.

It was super easy!

It took me about 10 minutes with a 10mm wrench to install my CORBIN seat!

Yamaha came right off :drum:

Just trying to be funny!!

I asked because I sprayed some OFF! (30 deet or something) onto myself one day, and a little got on the seat. When I wiped it off, it smeared the white from the letters really quickly. This happened within seconds, but I didn't want to try that again since it did dry out the vinyl pretty good. Armor All just makes my seat slick and oily. I don't think it absorbs very well. Anyways, thanks for the responses, I'm gonna try some of these tomorrow on the under side where it is stapled to make sure it doesn't damage it. i'll post results. thanks

Jered was close.

It's not brake fluid, It's brake cleaner.
I used it on MYVINO seat to remove the white Yamaha stencil. Took a little elbow grease but it does work and will not dull or change the finish. You have to apply and rub afew times to get the stuff deep down in the grain.

Still around,

yeah, that was it, brake cleaner...

close... I knwo brake fluid is the #1 available and #1 easiest way to jack up a paint job...

Just go pour a bottle on the hood of your car... and you'll have bare metal in the morning! LOL

I have used paint thinner to get auction numbers off of motorcycle seats before and then did the old shoe shine boy job on the seat. It will come out looking fairly swell, just buff it real good and do a little white glove test before you sit you khakis on it.
