well, its done!
$250 labor, not bad.
last night i accidently broke a plug wire on my car, so my g/f couldnt drive it to work this morning, she took a cab.
she works right by the shop, so during her lunch she walked over to check on the progress, and it was DONE!
70cc, carb, performance airbox, variator, 4.5g rollers, technigas exhaust, torque spring, clutch springs. throttle cable also.
they couldnt get a replacement ABS unit for the front brakes, but when it comes in he said he would install it free.
BUT the mech said he couldnt get it to run right.
he called vento and vento said to remove the clutch springs untill the scooter has some more miles on it. 200 +/-
so he removed the springs and put the stock ones back in and now the scooter suposedly runs fine.
im very excited.
i havnt even seen it since getting the work done.
my girlfriend said it sounds great now.
shes on her way home right now, never driven a scooter before.
so shes taking the road home that doesnt go up past 35mph
better that way since the front brakes dont work right now.
i will post again in when i am able to check out how well it rides at higher speeds.
thanks for all the help and advice guys, helped bigtime.

BLEAH
i duno wtf is going on.
accelleration blows, cant get it past 35
too much play in the throttle, instead of shortening the cable and using the elbow that came with the carb he ripped the elbow out of another vento stock carb and jammed it into where the elbow goes on the new carb.
still needs the variator, rollers, clutch springs and torque spring.
wondering if that will even make a difference.
i was mistaken before,
the guy said he did the variator and springs in another scooter before, and it had **** for accelleration.
he said i should wait till after break in of the new piston/carb before putting the new variator and springs on.
i dont understand why?!
accelleration sucks, people were passing me as i was doing 15 miles per hour for a block or two trying to get speed up.
i cant drive it like this, so i dont know how the hell im suposed to break it in.
as it stands, my girlfriend is going to have to drive it back to the shop
shes about 100lbs lighter than i am.
i also know the carb needs to be adjusted but im not sure how, it seems different than adjusting the stock carb.
the *****hole also chipped up my body pannels.
i removed them 4 times while i was messing with them and i didnt do any damage, he takes them all off ONE time and manages to ruin them.

the vari and tourque spring WILL make a difference as will the clutch springs..... do you still think the $250 in labor "wasn't bad"
Are they going to finish the job with no additional cost to you??

yea, the rest of the work is allready paid.
sounds like this mechanic took you for a ride
i am a mechanic (diesel) and i can do a better job on a scooter than that
you should have asked other people to see what kind of a mechanic he is
hope it is going to be ok :D

This is why I wish I lived in the lower 48... So I could jump in and assist with installs and stuff...
$250 for a stage 2 install isn't that bad... however that's if it's perfect when it returns!
It litterally should take 2 hours or so for the stage 2 install... So even at an expensive $75 an hour... Your paying almost 2 times what the labor should be for it... In addition... I'm sure that shops in the lower 48 charge more like $50 an hour to maybe $35 an hour!
I've heard stage 2 is supposed to take 6 hours... Donno... maybe for a 1st timer who has little to no experience...
BTW... the reason you have no acceleration and top speed is that the scooter should have the variator, clutch (and or springs), torque spring all installed and tunred allong with the carb to get it right... No way should you break it in with a half install of stage 2! That makes no since...
Go kick you mechanic in the HEAD, get your $250 back and emain or call me and I'll walk you throught the install!
It's not that hard!

i posted in another thread allready, i tried and could not do it.
that variator is on there TIGHT
i used a long socket wrench and a strap wrench and it would not budge at all.
THAT is the only reason i took it in, in the first place.
well, that and the throttle cable.
turns out i have a friend that has the cable ends and crimper.
he also has an impact wrench and lots of sockets.
so im going to take the scooter back this next week and see how the shop does as far as finishing the work, if they dont do what they are suposed to i wont pay the last $100 for labor. they can just eat me!
they were going to let my girlfriend drive off without paying, said not to worry about it because they werent done with the work.
but she insisted on paying them, and i wish she hadnt.
at this point i can do the rest myself now that i know my friend has the tools.

i did want to make sure of something...
the carb came with 2 jets, i took out the one that came preinstalled, and i put the one with the biggest hole in the carb.
jet with small hole = 50cc?
large hole = 70cc?
that was the right thing to do, correct?
also...
on the arreche 19mm carb
which screw adjusts what?
just wanted to make sure.
