OK, Changed transmission oil over the weekend and was surprised to see that .15L is a really small amount of Trans Oil. Any thoughts? Concerns? o_o

yep.... it's a small amount...
I personally fill it till I see the gears wet when I spin the wheel by hand... if it's over full, then it'll leak out the over fill tube....
If you have a scooter without the overfill, then use the exact amount...

The amount of gear oil for a periodic change is .13 Liters which is pretty small (total capacity is .15 L - but you never quite get all of it out). I find it easier to measure out 4 oz from the gear oil bottles I buy and that equals .12 L. The difference isn't enough to worry about and I've run that way for 12K miles.
I don't remember if the Vino 125 has an overfill or even a vent tube - I'll check next time I have a chance. If it doesn't then jered's caution is wise. You can blow an oil seal with the excess pressure developed if you reduce the air space inside the final transmission drive unit with too much oil.

Yes, it has a vent tube. Still do not want it to overflow as it is right by the rear tire. Oil and rubber do not mix well when trying to stop. o_o _-_-_-

Ditto on that sentiment. I had a problem with my Stella once right after I changed the gear oil. Left it running while I went in to get my rain gear and when I got back out it had puked oil all over the rear tire. If I hadn't seen it I'd have hit the wet road with that oily rear tire, coulda been bad for sure.

Spyder, Glad you checked before the ride....don't want to hear of any of the members getting hurt. That is why everyone should give a good once over before hopping on the scoot. It would suck if I smucked up my baby because of something I missed before a ride. Bad enough I have to worry about other drivers let alone worrying about something I did as well.

You clearly don't want to fill it so much that you get a puddle... but a little over filling and it'll just drain out...
Didn't intend to say to WAY overfill... just if you get a LITTLE extra, it's no big deal...

Thanks for all of the input, Especially the conversion to OZ. that helped a lot. I now have a plastic syringe that is marked for 2 oz. that I used. For anyone interested I got the syringe from a woodworking supply company for pretty cheap.
Thanks

Well that beats my '4-ounces-in-a-cup-to-turkey-baster' approach. It works, but the turkeys always taste funny afterward.

:dunce: Question Please...... chapter 3 pg 11 TRANSMISSION OIL REPLACEMENT
the manual states that the drain plug bolt gasket should be replaced w/ a new one.
Is that really neccesary if it passes a clean, visual?
Please reply

its a crush washer and realy should be replaced after your use it once (like the washer on your oil drain in your car). I've reused mine plenty of times and it doesnt leak. When i order some more oem parts, i'll throw a bunch of those in my basket bc they are only a few cents each.

Thanks Str8dum! I found that out when I said skru it and jumped in. Its all good and the clean paper towell that was left in place under the drain is still clean this morning...no drips.
Thanks for the reply. :8wave:
