Copper ring in 70cc kit???

Anyone know what this copper ring thing in the T6 70cc kit? Big enough to fit over my thumb with room to spare. The "How To"s dont mention anything about it. Dont want to crank up the new mod and have a piston launch into traffic like a missile.
