I've been a member for just days...My daughter was in an auto accident( she's going to be okay), but her car was totalled. Uninsured motorist to boot! I'm most likely going to have to sell my new 02 silver/black classic to help her out. Sometimes the Dad thing kind of hurts, you know? Anyway...I just bought it on 9-20-04, new from a Yamaha dealer. I still have temp plates! Stage two, plus pinstripes, rear shock, japanese lights, buddy seat( no big deal). Anyone know where I can list the scoot? This is the one like king vino's. Today it has about 150miles...runs in the low to mid 50mph range, and I weigh about 195lbs. I've got about $2300ish in it. Jim, aka ccfsilver :(

Do you live near a major city? Try posting on craigslist.com for your area (free classifieds)
Also here and on the two yahoo yamaha groups & other scooter groups.

Anyone else have any suggestions.

Unfortunately scooters depreciate very quickly.http://www.provoscooter.com/vbull/images/icons/icon9.gif

Good luck. Glad your daughter is going to be ok.

yeah, what city are you in? That'll help with getting someone interested...

And as mentioned... Scooters depriciate in value VERY VERY FAST... as in a new scooter that goes for $1800msrp might get $1200 used... with only a few miles...

So with it being an older model... might even have more trouble getting a decent price... Do you have an idea what your willing to take? I know you said $2300 in costs to you...With or without the add on parts your probably lucky to get $13-1400... You are probably better off selling the parts seperately than the scooter... unless you find someone who specifically wants a modded scooter.. Then you might be able to recover your parts costs a little...

I know this sucks but unfortunately they don't have much value used... Compaired to the msrp anyway....

Good luck and wish you the best price you can get...

I drive by a used Vino that's for sale every day and it's only going for $800. It's been sitting in their front yard with a for sale sign on it for a couple of months.

Yeah I don't think selling it would do much. Scooters arent worth anything once you take them home.

I was thinking about selling my 2003 Vino with 800 miles on it a couple of weeks ago and put it on the Craigslist in the Denver area. I was hoping to buy another scooter.
I paid ~ $2100 and added about $200 of upgrades. I was asking $1500.
After two weeks , someone emailed me and said they would buy it. However, I changed my mind about selling it---I figure these 2 strokes may be alot more valuable once people can no longer buy new ones in 2006.
If you can afford to do it , keep your scoot--& sell it when it becomes a hot item.;)

Thank all of you so much for your input. In the mean time(I'm a prof. musician in the Symphony), and old tuba (hence the bell joke) I had for sale... sold!!! I get to keep the scoot after all!!! So I get to stay a low rider instead of a low blower!! This scooter stuff has brought me so much fun, as of late. I couldn't be happier riding the scoot. It is a blast! But you all already new that....Jim :)
