Good evening all. New user here. I have a GP1 and I just got my MK sp cyl and 21mm dellorto carb. I have a question about the install though. Since there is no provision on the head for the water lines that used to go into the old one, what am I supposed to do with the lines? I know there is one from the front of the motor on ht epassenger side down low, and the carb has 2 places to run the lines into and out of? I don't know which ones go where, any and all help is greatly appreciated! I cant' wait till I hook up all my new stuff!
Thanks!

So you are saying there's a water inlet on the cylinder but not the head? Something is wrong then bc liquid cooled heads have the outlets right above the spark plug hole. Its very obvious, so u must have the wrong head.
The water lines have nothing to do with the carb, so unless you type with run on sentences or something, I am not sure what you are talking about. Carbs usually have 2 or 3 inlets, one for fuel and one or two for vacuum/oil usually. Just match the inlets of the carb up with the different size hoses (ie fuel hose is tha largest and goes on eth largest hole etc.)
If this is still confusing, I'd prolly roll that bike into a shop and have someone else do the work as it only gets more complicated from here with the tuning. And of the tuning isnt done right, you'll burn up your new motor very quickly.
Good luck.

I have a 17.5 Dellorto that has those mystery double inlets/outlets? I know gas cools ,so they aren't for water. Unfortunately no one could Identify even with pics. Also notice Air/Fuel and Idle are on the opposite side as most carbs..including most Dellorto's. .......Man I had to Edit this after I looked at the 1st pic LOL!! (check out how Huge the carb looks in relation to the Legs!!..looks like a 200mm)

are you sure they arent overflows? My arreche has 2 overflow nipples that leak gas when the bike is leaning too far over on its stand.

Arreche usually has a double "Y" hose on those..I know what you're talking about. The black rubber hose (see Pics).. is the only vent I saw work. A stuck float flooded my case pretty good once... till it started running out the vent.

There is no thermostat with the SP kit. You need to fing an adapter, it is a common item, that screws in, and to which you attach the cooling hose. Your local bike shop should be able to help you out.

Remember, you will need stiffer clutch springs, and a modified air box to get it going. Without modifying the air box, it's impossable to tune.

Hey guys. Thanks so much for the quick responses! This site is really great.
In a nutshell, I got all the parts (cyl, head, carb, air filter) installed. But I still have an issue...let me explain
Here's what I did (MK rep told me to do this)The water line from the pump, which is the small diameter hose that originally went to the inlet on the carb then out to the head (for the electric choke) is deleted b/c there is no inlet on the head for this and the new 21 dellorto is manually enriched. No problem there..
I decided to go the premix route, for peace of mind, so I disconnected the oil pump and plugged the oil inlet on the side of the carb.
The hose nipples on the carb I originally thought were for water (like the old 17.5 dellorto) are actually vents that go directly to the float bowl. Unplugged them and the motor fired up no problem.
I also installed some other parts after I got it running.....
kevlar belt, MK race clutch (red springs), 4.5 gr rollers, K&N filter, contra spring shim (supplied w/the clutch) turbo kit chamber with PC silencer and new cable for the carb.
This is where I stand now....jetting problems....The bike falls flat on it's face at anything over 1/4 throttle. It fires up and idles fine, goes about 10 mph faster than the old setup. Has a little more power. RPMS are not going over 9600, (MK rep says I should get at least 13000, and I have tried main jets ranging from 95 to 135, but cannot get the bike to take anything over 1/4 throttle. when I do give it more throttle, the engine just bogs like it has a hand over the intake.
I think maybe it is jetted too rich? Did a plug read, and it does not look too rich. What are you guys' experience with jetting? Can you tell me what you have installed in your bikes and maybe I can try something else, maybe even a smaller main?
Again, I thank all of you for your help. I'll be posting some pics of my bikes as soon as I get this one running correctly. Hopefully I can get 'er running right and smoke my buddies on their Chinese scoots I am catching WAY too much crap from them over all this, hehe
Later Guys!

I have exactly the same set up, but with a crank and SP exhaust. My jetting is 42 idle, Needle second down, 95 main. Runs perfectly.
Questions:
1. What have you done for an air filter?
2. What are you using for exhaust?

Well, as much as I would like to say, the jetting is not the problem. Just found a hairline crack in the intake manifold. seems as though the crack was not large enough to open up and suck air when the motor was stock, but now the SP setup requiresa much more, and it widens enough to leak probably around 9000-9500 rpms. Bummer.
I'm gonna try an old military fix used on hoses and fuel lines on humvees...Industrial contact cement and a layer of thick vulcanized rubber. It should work, but not by any means a permanent fix.
Any ideas where I can get one? Any other scoots use that manfold?
To answer your previous questions MD Mark, I have a K&N filter (screen and paper) and a TurboKit (made in ESP, for a Kymco Super 9 same size but adapted to fit the Piaggio engine) BTW, thanks for the info on your setup!
Hopefully this will work and I'll be ridin' today, as the weather here is about 75 already and it's only 10:45 a.m. Had to rub that in, hehe
I'll post my results later today. Thanks!
