What is a Perpetual Thread?
Well that was a very good PM I received a few days ago. On the old boards we use to get so off topic that someone would post a thread asking about derestriction and we would end thirty posts later talking about a movie or about our kids.
In order to try to curb side conversations and keep on topic, or to keep threads in a length that would not require a new member of having to weed through threads that may have more than thirty replies spanning three or more pages, I've began limited threads to three pages. Anytime they get beyond that, I split them and create a PART II. But some threads that are posted, usually in the Lifestyle Forum where the conversation has no set direction or may be continuous are designated as PERPETUAL meaning there is no so length limit or that the topic may be subject to changing. In a perpetual thread we may start with a discussion about painting a house and ending about mounting a scooter to a blimp. Perpetual threads too can range from one page to a hundred!
