I removed the rear blinkers and modded the reflector and the bulb housing to fit into the rear tail light housing.
here are some pics of how it looks. If you look closely you'll see the right blinker is lit up...

The light mod looks great, though about doing this one myself. But I want to replace the two small lenses on the side with amber ones instead of red. I don't supposse anyone has seen any of those around? More than likely this would have to be some sort of home made deal.
Once again, it looks great! :D

my guess would be that they would have to be home made... Can't imagine that anyone would have them available... However you might want to send a message to Erich at provo as he is awesome about getting almost anything you can ask for...

If you use yellow bulbs (I'd suggest yellow LED pods), then your red lenses will make them appear amber. :)

That's actually a good idea, it will differentiate the brake from the turn lamp. It'll keep the law a little happier.

It's all about the show and the go...
Laws are for wimps! Well... Laws suck anyway, but guess that we have to follow most... YEah...
Oh well... I guess if I ever get harassed I'll have to start working to make it stock again... Hopefully not though...

You try explaining to the family of a dead motorcyclist, or pedestrian why they were killed a few times and you'll change that tune, bro.

i'm all for following the laws... think people who don't are dumbasses and some get what they deserve... some get far worse...
i was simply saying that some laws suck... some get broken... some don't...
to defend this statement... when was the last time you stayed under the speed limit for a complete week?

95% of the roads where I live the Vino won't do the PSL. On the orads here, there is so much congession that if I can get the car up to the PSL, I'm having a damn good day.

Now now fellas, I think jered has a point. I've known people that got pulled over for not having amber tail lights which is pretty stupid. My buddy got pulled over for having a blown license plate light. We then had to wait like 30min. for the pig to find anything on us (which he didn't). It's almost like these lil things are here just to give em a chance to bust us for bigger things! BUT, Arron has a point also, most laws keep us safe and some of the biggest busts are due to a drug dealers license plate light blown or something like that. My ol pappi always used to say... laws are like eating pie, some taste good and others make you fat!

I was just saying for me that this mod is cool, however it is just one more thing that the man can pull me over for if he wanted to.
Around here MOST coppers are cool, however if you get the wrong one on the bad day then why give him one more reason to stroke me one more ticket is all.
I have a Zuma- over 30 MPH in MD is against the law- so already breaking some laws, just don't want to break too many and basicly hand deliver a reason to pull me over is all.

wow, is that what traffic is like... I can't possibly think except about a 3 mile stretch of raod through the whole of Anchorage area, that you ever have problems getting to the posted limit.
The biggest problem is people all want to go 10-20 mph over the limit (at least in the summer) winter time thay all do the posted limit or a few over...
WOW... Guess I don't have that issue here... big one I have is when the speed limit says 25 people trying to run me over doing 40 or more...
guess every where has their problems...

I'm reposting this from the old thread on the old boards:
I know you won't like hearing this jered, but I figured I'd post it any way. But this is more of a heads up than anything else. Last night I was on a ride along with my boy from the 3rd-D in the MPD.
About 1800 we were trailing a Kymco Super-9 and he was about 100 yards ahead of our cruiser. He modded the taillight assembly. From a hundred yards back as we could see was a blinking light. Even with the brake light on at that distance could not confirm directional intent. Got up to about 25 yards still had issue, so he got pulled, and written up a citation for illegal mod, along with a DMV repair order because it violated the new FedDOT regulations regarding break away turn signals as well as proper spacing which requires that turns signals must be more than 36 inches apart from each other. Because the turn signals were so close to each other and the brake light, cars could not determine intent because at that distance the turns signals both appeared to be in the center of the bike.
Personally these regs annoy me especially since I use to kept getting pulled when I was a cop for having blackouts on my Stang, and we had an issue with the Euro style brake lights when they came out for the import cars because they were not DOT certified until about 2000-01 time frame, but if you get a bored cop looking to harass a kid, or in the case of MPD are under orders to watch scooterists cause of a scooter crime wave, you may find yourself getting some extra attention.

Damn the Man! I have yet to be asked about why my blinkers are red instead of yellow or amber, and If they do I will tell them that I bought it that way! thought I would mention it is all!

Yups-
And Maryland being right next to DC means no reason for me to give them even more reason to pull me over.
I like the mod but like my license even more.

can you really get pulled over for red turns?
I can think of at least 1/2 dozen car/trucks that have red turn signals. or is this a motocycle thing?
I think it is the spaceing that causes "Jonny Law" to pull you.

one of you said something about 36" between the blinkers... uhh... mine had about 12".... so making them 5" aprt isn't that big of a deal to me...
as i said... if i get ticketed for it then i'll deal with it then....
Lennox

Can you imagine them being 36" apart LOL
I have a 2003 Vento Zip R3 and the turns are part of the taillight assembly. The only catch is they ARE amber! So mabe the Yellow light pod is the legal way to go!

That was me jered citing the recent changes to the FedDOT laws that went in to affect a few years ago. Personally to me nothing looks gayer than seeing a 185mph R1 crotch rocket with break aways. (stocked signals)
I've heard from a lot of guys who've converted thier sport bikes back to OEM that they typically don't get bothered, but again... I think it's cop discretion, if he or she in the cop car can't determin the riders's internt, then he's going to turn on the red n' blue and pull ya.

You can legally have red lights for the turn signals, but only on the rear. You're not allowed to have a red light anywhere on your vehicle except for on the rear. Even a Gold Wing is going to have a problem if the turn signals are required to be 36" apart - but that doesn't mean that they wouldn't make it a law somewhere.
Spend a few bucks to use yellow bulbs and then don't worry about it. :)

24"-36" isn't that hard to do. I wish all signals were amber myself, as it helps to distinguish the use of the light. Federal light stands go:
white: directional lights (headlights, turn lamps and backup)
red: brake-rear running
amber: signal

I went ahead and didi the taillight mod.
I love it. I did however use yellow L.E.D.'s as lights. It makes the glow look AMBER.
How do I post a video clip of it flashing?

I'm not sure if you can post video. Hell, we're limited to a total of 39kb image post total to a thread. Most boards don't allow video posting because of bandwidth and load time issues. Personally I'd like to find a way to repost King Vino: The Movie.
