Hello ive got about 160miles on my Tritonr4. And notice that sometimes when ive gave a little quick throttle between 35 and 40 at times it bogs. I was using 91 octain when it occured. But i just realized under the seat it says use 89 octain. But this last time it did it was with 91 gas. It did a wierd noise sound comming from the exuast. Hope there wasnt any damage using the 91 octane gas. Anybody have any clues why it bogs at times when quickly going from 35 to 40mph or why it did wierd noise out the tail pipe when i gave it gas and it bogged?

The octane doesn't really make that big of a difference. No clue on why it bogs, maybe you need to return the bike to the dealer and get the carb tuned. What is a weird sound?

My GT5 has always had a slight bog in that area. I have contemplated changing the torque sping and clutch but it has not bothered me enough to fool with. Is the noise like a pop or a whistle? The whistle noise has been discussed here before and seems to be normal. :smokin:

your carb needs to be fine tuned it sounds like a mid rev lean

Well, the plug looks good, but to get an accurate chop, you need to clean it off and run it at mid throttle for a mile or so. More if possible, then check it again.

I wouldnt waste my time cleaning the plug. Just put a fresh brand new plug in and then do your plug chop.

Hey guys im gona check it after another 50 miles or so then ill put in the new plug and do a read. Wierd though cause when i start my triton every time i gota give it a little throttle and warm up with throttle until it desides its warm enough to idle ok then it runs fine. Thanks Guys maybee my scooters carb wasnt 100percent properly set and adjusted from the factory. Cause i did have to turn the idle up initially cause it was too low and Scoot wouldnt stay on at first when i just got it. You Doods are all cool and now your sht thanks!

If you have to open the throttle at all when cold starting then your a/f screw is messed up. Try turning it out 1/4 turn. Only do that though once the motor has warmed up fully.

is A/f screw the mixture skrew? or what is it exactly?

yeah its the mix screw the mix screw adjusts a small percentage of your full rpm range also you might try a needle clip adjustment, do a search... i think i remember a similar issue a bit back

Thanks ill see what happens. Other guy telling me his wifes zip on inital break in had same start warm up situation as mine. And ocasional bog if blipping the throttle. Other than that plug looked ok and runs good enough. Just dont wana mess with mixture screw did it once on my zip fffed things up pretty good. Dealer had to do something to get it to stay on and idle so a little hesatent about messen with the mixture on my Triton. I think these chinese Ventos are a little finicky seems like cause my zip had its kwerks too.

My GT5 has the same cold start up problem. I always have to hold the throttle about 1/4 or so to keep it running on inital start up. So the remote start doesn't work unless the bike has been running a bit. The suggestion to turn the mix screw out 1/4 turn, does that lean it out or make it richer? My plug seems to be dark and getting plenty of oil. But I haven't done a proper chop on it yet.

turning the air/fuel screw out will lean out the mixture. I find that the factory sets the mixture too rich for most people.

Really ive allways heard manufactures set scoots to lean for emmisions thats probably why theres some start and run smooth issues with theses scoots and some other brand
