I have a 2004 Zuma with the stage 1 installed with a metrakit pipe.. the bike is pretty slow, it has two power spots, at 25 and 35.. Would putting the performance filter on help speed it up? IF so, how do you install it ? do you remove the airbox? i have read all the how to's.. and i cant find how to put it on.. thanks.

Well...
After reading your other post where you are selling your stage 1 I can tell you from reading 1000's of post on this forum where your problem most likely is:
When you did put the pipe on your bike, you changed the "sweet spot" which is when your bike produces its most usable power. Since you didn't install the new weights, variator and so on your bike is not tuned into using the new found power in this sweet spot. The power is there is the best way to say it, you have to install the rest of the parts to use it.
Almost all of these stage 1 installs you have to do the whole install before you get to see the benefits of it.

To install a performance air box, you remove the stock air box from the bike, held on by a couple screw and a clip that holds it to carb.
The new air filter will attach to the intake part of the carb, where the old one is clipped on.
Very simple... however if you install a "open" air box onto the scooter, your gonna need to upjet... More than likely anyway or you'll burn your cylinder up!

ERich sells main jets for the carbs he sells... Not sure that he has the ones for the stock carb...
You should be able to get them from Yamaha though... your dealer has them available but it could take a while!
WHat upjetting is... Is, there is a little cap that you put on the carb that regulates the flow of fuel... This is called the main jet... If your upgrading to the 70cc kit.... the stock jet will not allow enough fuel and the cylinder will burn itself up...
The jets are also available online and should be about $5.00 each or a kit of them for a $20 or so... The stock carb, has 4 screws that hold the cover on over the jet... Never changed it but I know it's the round style... They are a little harder to come by in the small sizes the scooters need...
That pretty much covers it...
