Ok, Zumas flew out of the dealerships, but I rarely see one and I'm the only Zuma when I ride with groups (and the Vespa crowd I ride with is going to be shutting down to non-Vespas soon, so I'm screwed). What happened? All those Zumas got hid under rocks?

Any Los Angeles Zumas around?

Sounds kind of like the way the Harley riders used to treat the metric riders. Thankfully things have gotter somewhat better here in NC. I have even received the wave from Hog riders when I am on my scooter and have ben invited to ride with some on special rallies. Of course I went through a lot of the old "when are you going to get rid of that rice burner (1982 KZ 1000 J) and get a Harley?" I always responded with "when Harley makes one that will out run it." People tend to forget why we ride what we do and become what I call social snobs. I hope you find some folks to ride with that are out to have fun and not turn their noses on those that choose to be different.

I understand the reason why you posted what you did, to find other zuma's to ride with...

however, talk about idiotic... kicking people out of a group... I could see not letting new non-vespa members in but kicking out ones already there is stupid...

Good luck on finding riders...

I kinda have been finding that out. I'm a sports bike person to begin with, so what do I want a Vespa for? I like riding with them, just not on them. If I had a big bike it would be a sports bike, not a Harley. Something about that whole retro thing. It's been done...time to move on.

I ride my Yammy because no matter where I go...there's a dealership and parts available. And Yammies are R.E.L.I.A.B.L.E. So really don't need the dealerships...but in the event I do...

So I guess I am the only Zuma in Los Angeles.

I use to ride a Kawasaki street bike and was use to getting the signals, recognition from the other bike riders. That was many years ago. Then when I got the Vino last October, I was surprised to see that most of the street bikes even the big HD's still giving me the signals, recognition riding my little Vino. I was thinking they might snub there noses at me. One guy riding a HD pulls up next to me at a red light and says, I like the white walls. Maybe they dig the retro style. :smokin:

Well, a quick Google of "miles of streets in LA" didn't get me a definitive number, (I'm betting no one knows.) but they sweep 600,000 curb miles. Seems to me the odds against you seeing each other are pretty slim no matter how many were sold.

A few more interesting facts:
LA (the city) covers 469 sq. miles
Population density is 7,876.8 per sq. mile
Mean travel time to work is 29.6 minutes (Who comes up with these things?)
57.8% of you speak some language other than English at home.

I suggest that you make up a small poster (from the looks of the numbers you might want to make it in some language other than English..laugh.. ) and form you're own group. Pick a spot that's centrally located and easily accessible to vehicles with the speed limitations we have. Put a map on the poster.

Put the posters up at places that sell/repair scooters. Don't give up if only a few or none show up the first week or even month. It takes time for the word to get out.

A few more suggestions. Don't limit yourself to just Zuma's. Welcome anyone with a platform ride, particularly Vespa riders. Don't let it become an us against them situation.

Pick your ride routes so that everyone can keep up. Here, I ride with a group that's mostly Vespa 200's. Lately, they've been toning down the speed sections so I can keep up. Really fun times.

If this idea interests you PM me. I have several other suggestions. :sunny:

Yay, Eagle Rock! Hehe, that's where papa lives too. Harley rider to the core, but I ride everything, always trying to squeeze just a few more mph. I'm an engineer, an ace mechanic, and a computer guru, among other things. I'll scoot with you, just lemme' finish putting this 2006 vino 125 back together. A friend gave it to me, it was hit by a truck, hehe. 4 more months and I'll be able to register it (he still hasn't paid it off). Frame was bent but I'm done with that, ordered a few parts. It's gonna' look strange but I'll be cool as f**k.
