Ok, I have a 2002 BWs and I've put on a Leo exhaust with the yellow clutch springs and lighter rollers (3 gr I think). I've also put in an 82cc head. Before all this (bone stock) my scoot cruised at 67km/h (42m/h), now it is super slow off the line and slow up to 34m/h but then starts to pull and tops out at 45m/h. I know that my tranny needs tuning but I'm not too sure what exactly it needs. I'm obviously not in the power band but not too sure what tuning needs to be done to get there.

Some thoughts or suggestions would be much appreciated.

(I have a 19mm carb and rev derestrictor on the way)

Did you rejet the carb? Whats an 82cc head or a rev-derestrictor

I'm guessing your biggest problem is that 82cc head. Its not designed for the correct squish on that cylinder. A stock head would do you some good along with some plug chops to see if your running lean with that new pipe.

by rev-derestrictor I mean an unrestricted ignition box to allow higher revs. And by 82cc I mean an 82cc kit (instead of 70cc) that I was able to source out of Asia (Japanese I think). I'd never heard of it either and it wasnt what I was expecting...but I got it, installed it, and it runs good. I havent jetted the carb cause I have a 19mm in the mail. I was still able to pull 45m/h without re-jetting or any other tuning. Im going to wait until i have everything on before I get too serious with tuning (Duh). At that point Ill see what its doing and ask for more help if need be.

Hope you did a few chops with the carb you have, it may be lean. A bigger carb will wake that beast up, 82cc should feel nice on the bottom end. What brand was it

the scooter should be better then stock with what you mentioned you did...

you should have awesome acceleration with a 82cc kit on it...

you need to work the clutch spring and rollers more I think... also check your plug color... with the larger cylinder on it, I'd recommend a little on the rich side to avoid destroying it!

Not too sure of the brand...the box is all in Japanese (at least it looks like Japanese). I did check the plug and it looked a little lean, but not too bad. Once I get the big carb on I'll get that all sorted out. It's the power band that I need to get figured out. Its obviously engaging too early before the engine gets reved up cause the acceleration totally blows (way worse than stock). The top end is pretty good at around 45-46mph without any adjustments to the carb or jet (except I had to adjust the idle cause the stock setting wasnt enough to keep the thing running). I'm hoping that with the Pipe, 82cc kit, carb, and new variator I can crack the 55mph mark (too optomistic?). Im really not too concerned with the top end, I just want lightning acceleration. Thats why I was stoked with the huge cylinder. I figured I could get some good torque from it. I already have tough clutch springs (yellow) in there and 4,3 rollers.

We'll just have to wait and see what happens once I get it all assembled (monster wheelies I hope).

what pipe you using?

you have to remember the larger cc's you run, the more torque but less rpm's normally...

so if you run a 82cc it's probably only going to spin at 8500 rpm's to 9500... where a 70cc will run over 10K easily...

a pipe will be your best friend or worst enemy... I'd stay away from a leo vince with that cylinder and go for a rs... a mid rpm pipe should help you out on the torque...
