Im looking to do a ground up zuma build since my last one was stolen and went up in flames. Starting with the frame, where would I get a 03,04, 05 frame with papers and a BW 100CC engine? Ive found frames at motorsport d dealers but they dont come with titles.

Why not just buy a used zuma, and then swap motors? That way you'll have a title. Unless you have an unlimited supply of money and want to do a full aftermarket suspension from europe.

and why do a zuma? Do a Piaggio motored derbi or LC aprilia.

Yea, I would just get a Derbi or a Vento Triton which can scream with an Evo LC or AC.

Buying a frame is a nightmare. They do not come with a vin # and you need to go through motor vehicle to be legal. Even If you try and do the right thing you can bet that if you talk to 5 people a motor vehicle you'll get 5 different answers on what to do and need. Allthough the scoot is totalled try and reuse the frame you allready have if possible. If it's not usable you can cut the vin off the old frame and weld to the new one so it lines up with the plastic window. All in all a lot of work and an unbeleivable ammount of $ to go from ground up. If I were you I'd take pre bugs advise.

Why a Zuma? Because its the best! (Can you detect a bias?LOL)

You are right about the expense. Im finding half wrecked zumas, beat up badly zumas and several with out titles. The title is the key thing.

The fire was so intense it melted everything including the frame. Using the glob that was the engine as a paperwaight.

Is the 02 frame the same as the 03, 04, 05 zuma?

i dont know about the bugeye zuma being the best, i wouldnt say that, its to heavy to start with and its very hard to get that bike to go over 65mph even with a evo kit where as other bikes with evos can do 80+. if you want to build up a really solid bike get yourself a prebug zuma, something like a 2000 with a disk and change the motor to a laydown minarelli engine (not one from a bugeye) and evo that bike, 80+ there you go. thats ground up.

I don't know but for me I got stage I and running 42-47mph Zuma is heavy and sturdy in that speed and even if you go 50-55 still I think it will be OK. But with a light scoot I might feel shaky with the speed of 50-55, IMHO what more for 80mph :)

have you even been on a scooter that can go 50 or even 55mph? i have a 88 honda elite es that i have been on at 85mph and it feels fine at those speeds, it doesnt shake and its very light weight. i dont think that bike is over 130lbs. the only problem i see with light weight fast bikes is keeping the front end down and most of the guys in this forum wish they had that problem, thats why the build up the bikes so they can have that problem. on my current zuma set up i have been 67mph and its solid as a rock, when i redue it with my new watercooled evo set up 80+ here i come on that bike and its going to be solid. oh yeah i dont believe in stages, i just build the bikes to go fast.

I've been thinking about starting a thread about how fast people think is too fast for safety. I know for a fact that you have to get used to the sensation of goin fast on a scooter, but at some (maybe theoretical) speed you have to admit that a 200lb bike with small wheels feels a little twitchy.

the tires on a zuma/bws are a pretty good size, if they were larger than 10in, than they would b amazing.
i find that i have more control and have more agility when im driving my scooter than my car, which makes me feel safe

Thats another thing that I like about Vento's. They use 12" rims/tires stock and that makes me fell pretty safe cruising along.

Wow! This thread has gotten interesting. People definately have strong brand loyalty. Still back to my org question. Anyone have any idea where i can find a 100cc bw engine and tranny? I heard Mexico has em, but thats a little bit of a haul. And is it really that big of a power diff from a 70cc kit?

i dont think theres a power diff in 100cc kit and a 70cc kit. there area a couple of guys out here with 100cc with only 28mm carbs and leo pipes and i still smoke them on my 68cc bike, and i dont even think of my zuma as being fast. to me its kinda slow. i still havent seen a 100cc beat a real 70cc (evo) bike. i am sure in stock forum the 100cc has more power than the 50cc but its still going to be slow, 55mph maybe.
Spyder my zuma 12" rims and its very stable and its not even close to 200lbs, thats why i like it, light weight. my honda has 10" wheels and that bike is nuts, wheelies at almost any speeds, thats why we build these bikes to go fast. out here we dont say o.k. were going to fast to be safe, we say we not goin fast enough.

What about some crazy LC setup on a stock 100cc zuma upgraded to like a 125 or something. That would be pretty sweet, imo.

that guy maryland mark has a 125cc on a 100c zuma from mexico. He sold it pretty quickly after getting it. Didnt sound that fast.

It wasn't LC though!

doesnt matter as there arent any fast pipes for that big of a motor. mod'd 70cc will still be faster.
