Well... I put in a bigger idle jet... a 52, and that seemed to do a world of good. Smoothed my bottom end right out! So much in fact I decided to try her out on the highway. I got her up to ~ 115km/h (71 mph) before it flattened out. However, I also noticed my temps starting to rise, so I backed off right away.
I know the main is 1 or 2 sizes too small, and she is still running too lean WOT... I cannot wait to get the bigger jets in there! I expect to see 75 pretty easily, and thats before any tranny mods! I hope to get some GPS #'s and some pics up before the New Year!
This is good fun fellas... and I thank you all for your help! o_o

I think you'll be amazed how far off your stock speedo is once you measure it with a GPS unit. On my GP1 to get the real speed you just devide how fast it's going in kilometers and devide it by 2.

You said it "Flattened out" at WOT..you probably need to raise your needle one clip..(Ie Lower the clip to raise the needle)

Actually, my speedo reads low. I've had my wife follow in her car on my arse, and we did comparisons, and I was truly surprised by the results. With the old motor, flat out, my speedo read 95, and hers was saying 98- pretty dang close. None the less, the final numbers will be GPS. I have a bungie set up that clips the GPS right over the instrument panel.
As for flattened out... maybe my bad misuse of the term. The motor felt strong all the way up, it just ran out of go at that point. Going 100, and nailling the gas, it pulls strongly, just wont go any faster than 115. I suspect it will with the proper main in there.
Darn, how much quicker would it be with some taller gears????? I think the motor could turn some moderately taller gears to redline, on the flats any way.
Oh ya... I was blasting up the steepest hill in town yesterday... not San Fran steep, but plenty steep, doing 70, and I rolled on the gas, and I be a monkey's unkle... it accelerated strongly!!!
Now that it's running better... I'm loving it!!

Yes... km/h... and it's on my 2003 Derbi GP1.
95 km/h stock. 115km/h after my Metrakit SP upgrade... more to come!

Send me a pic of your bungee setup? I have a handheld GPS but it is a pain to deal with- putting it in my pocket it loses satellites, velcro worked ok but I kept thinking it was going to fly off and so on...

That's crazy fast. I wish I could get my hands on one of those, unfortunately, i've never heard of a dealer in the US

Derbi Dealerships were usually with Vespa or other Piaggio motored Scooters. It was hard to see a Derbi banner for years..you had to go in and see the Derbis on the showroom floor. Most Owners knew the Main Parts supplier....Derbi owners are a real minority. I was lucky hooking up with a Mechanic that bought and saved old Atlantis rental fleet parts.:naught:

how good is the quality of that crank?
i plan on getting the sp kit but an lc conversion. when i emailed mk they recommended the sp crank.
its nice to c more ppl on this forum going for mk rather than the common polini and malossi kits

The whole kit looks very nice. You will need the crank if you go SP, just to cope with the high RPM the kit is capable of. It's expensive, but worth it in the long run.

when are one of you derbi/piaggio or even yamaha guys going to step up too pro race2 parts instead of sp2 parts.

as soon as your start actually building your Evo bike with motor swap and LC conversion. You probably have been saying that for over a year now. LOL :)
Just curious, where does your 67 mph zuma fall in terms of the average speed of other scooters out there. You can cruise at 67 mph?

because toronto is not hawaii!
not very many ppl ride scooters/vespas. and if they do, they usually keep them stock.
no one races, not too many stores that you can just walk in and buy a few scooter parts (in toronto anyways ), and there are not too many get togethers and if there is, its just a few ppl.
when ppl want to go fast on 2 wheels, they get motorcycles. they dont upgrade their scooter with racing parts.
im going with the sp2 setup because i hear its a great setup for street use. maybe after a year, i'll switch to the prorace, or maybe a hebo manston (sp?)
o ya, i forgot to mention that we have something called whether below freezing level! lol we only get to rides 4-5 months in nice whether _o

brah i not goin change my motor anytime soon. i got my honda stroker that i have been playing with 85mph plus easy and untuned, and my yamaha jog, watercooled evo that i also have been messing with, my zuma is only my beater or workhorse bike so it wait and wait. when i do put that bike together its only going to be with out of the box parts, nothing ported or anything like that just tuned right. my other bikes are all about pure speed.

I didn't do the crank on my SP...
I wanted to but the dude doing the work on my scoot said it really wasn't needed unless I wanted an even more radical scoot.
Anyway- some times I wish I would have and other times it is nice having the extra $500 or whatever in my pocket.
