I ordered a kevlar belt for my zuma and when I was installing it I noticed it was significantly wider than the stock. When I put the finned pulley over it, it didnt go back as far as it used to. I was afraid the belt would rub against the finned pulley so I put the stock back on. Does it matter if the new one is wider?

The belt rides on the finned pulley, so its gonna be touching it all the time anyway. Your accel might be a little bit worse for a 100 miles or so until the belt wears down a bit in width.

Its normal, it just goes to show you how worn your stock belt is.

Once the new belt gets seated into the torque driver, it will sit different. It shouldn't wear in, its pretty tough. If you're in doubt, check the numbers, or send an email.
