So my local dealer where I bought my Zuma will do a Stage 1 and 2 mod for $500.00 installed and tuned.
The have one the took off the lot and modified, and being the nice guys they are let me ride it. After going 50+ mph on a Zuma, I am suddenly intrigued. I didn't want to do a mod on my own, and so was waiting to upgrade to a more powerful scooter.
I am now reconsidering. Sound like a good deal to you guys?

the zuma is fun at the higher speeds...
IMO it safely does 60 mph with the correct parts... Some scooters are well over 60 mph (never seen a zuma do it) but it depends on the speeds you need to attain and the time you remain at those speeds...
If you need to go 55 mph - 65 mph for long periods, then definately go with a larger scooter... if you need 45 mph and occasionally over that to 50-55 then a zuma upgraded will be perfect... and at somewhere between 50 - 85 mph who could beat it...

Those other scooters are not as solid or as big (and heavy) as a Zuma I would feel better at 55 on a Zuma than 65 on almost any of the others I have seen. In my case I only have 3 miles of 55 mph Traffic with the rest at 35 mph 12.2miles one way drive so an upgrade to a Urban Combat Zuma is not really needed here. Maybe Step 1 + a new reed cage. Anyway just how far can you go before you void the warrenty and the YES service?

You could have a souped up zuma, which sounds cool, and its personalized. OR, you can buy a bigger, stock scooter, which is like a belly button, EVERYBODY HAS ONE. If you need something bigger than a little scooter, why not a motorcycle?

I'm guessing that the $500 is just installation and you still are adding the price of the parts? If so that seems pretty reasonable since most shops charge between $60-90/hr for labor. Find out what your dealer charges as an hourly rate just so you can make sure he's not screwing you over as the job will be about 2-4hrs of work depending on how often the dealer works on these jobs.

If they warranty the labor/parts, it wouldn't be bad. Still alot of money for basic installation. Stage 2 shouldn't take but 2 hours. Tuning a little more, but you could get close.

I wouldn't worry so much about voiding your warranty. I've read alot of threads about yamaha not stepping up on alot of things that should be covered under warranty. I wouldn't ride 35 for long without voiding it.
Um, I disagree... yamaha is pulling the rules on thier products... not "avoiding" repairs...
until it's proven to be a defective part, IE: the exhaust issues with the vino 125... then it will remain that they blame the customer... unless it's addressed with yamaha Corp... then it will remain that way...
Such an example, I had a SVT Focus... it was an awesome car but had multiple common issues and after the owners all started to pressure Ford and SVT they came up with repairs... mine was lemon lawed just before they corrected the flywheel issues and computer tuning issues... However the site www.svtoa.com (http://www.svtoa.com) provided the place for owners to gather and start making the issue known, then got togeather and called and harrassed the Ford and SVT...
Just the same could happen here with the Vino 125 exhaust... if enough people have issues... then it will become a recall item and they WILL repair it... If it remains a couple scooters with the issues and no one makes it known as a major issue then the owners will be stuck with the bill...

I know where you're comming from but, when you read threads about dealers blowing off customers who have had exhaust bolt shear off and turning the blame on them because they didn't do any prevenative maintenance is fustrating. I never had problems with cooperate, just lazy dealers/salesman that only made a commission on a $2,300 scooter instead of an R6.

I AGREE... it's DEALERS who don't want to work the claim as it's "questionable"...

Went in the dealer because I was having problems with the headset bearings on the steering. They told me they didn't know how to deal with it and the best they could do was order the parts for me. Wonderful. Have the bearings sitting on my work bench waiting for warmer weather.

I have allways stuck with yamaha, honda etc.. and stayed away from off the wall chinese brands and such because I allways thought well, if I can't fix it or find a part, I could allways find a Dealer that could. That's like briging a chevy to a chevy dealer and have them turn you away, it just dosn't make sense. I've tried dealing with my local yamaha guy and have had similar experiances, but I really should thank him for being so unaccomidating because it forced me to study all of these wonderful fourms, buy all the tools I need, learn how everything works and fix and tune it myself. Now I no longer have to pay them $80.00 an hour. :jesta:
