Easy!! With Illustrations.....Typically...after the last half of 2002 all motors were Piaggio. This is one I have on the bench..er front steps for the pic. Notice its grey and has a motorcycle kick lever.(I believe it's a low milage 2002) The one on my scoot is a 2002 Derbi motor (Pre-Piggy)... notice the awful kick lever ..but very fast A/C stock motor.

Thanks for the reply! you seem to know your sh__t,...new here, but from reading the posts, you know the derbi" product pretty well!...had mine(still stock for the moment) for 2yr's now, and look forward to my daily drive to wrk.EVERYDAY.
My main question is really about the best weight of rollers for this model-year,...heard 4.5 grams is good for top end speed AND low(take-off) speed.....i don't want a stage 1 for my ride that will bog" down on the low end. :drum:

To eliminate the bog put in some stiffer clutch springs and a new torque spring.

Derbi Man..You really gotta try a few different weights till you find what you like. Stock rollers are usually around 6 or 7grams. I've tried the lighter 4.5s and thought some of my top end was gone. Im now running three 9grm and three 4.5-5grm. Again..It just felt right with the 2G clutch I have. You can get good rollers for that stock vario (which isn't bad for a stock one) the size is 17 x12. (from a malossi chart)
