it seems like everyone in this forum is having trouble make a zuma go over 50mph. it shouldnt be that hard. my bike does at least 70 and its a 2000 with the upright motor. you guys with that flat motors should be doin closer to 80. you guys just have to get the right parts. race parts, not the street parts. street parts will get you to 55 or 60 but thats it. you have to go full polini evo or full malossi mhr.

sorry, but unless you have proof that your scooter is hitting 70mph... I can't believe it!

We've all got the 50mph blues here...

I do agree with the racing kits being faster... However... Not that drastic of a speed difference...

I'll post my new top end when I get the upgears and the new CDI I have on the way....

Sorry but we have asked multiple people for proof of "over 60" scooters and no one replies... Get a pic of a speed box, or a GPS reading on the scooter and show some proof of those speeds and I'll be happy and even say sorry for not believing you...

:D

Jered, isnt it crazy that everyone can go faster than us?? It must be the heat for me, and the cold for you!!

Or, maybe it is that I don't have any hills to ride down! LOL!

I remember when 80 was unheard of on a waverunner, and there were these guys in Long Island that swore they could hit 80. Well, after some people went to see it, they realized why. They propped there boats to the extrean, took off ALL handling components, rode in salt water with the current... and it still took them 3 miles to hit it! So, yes, these speeds may be correct.

Stating a top speed is very subjective. Rydah, I am not bashing you, however there are too many variables that you are leaving out. It is so easy to post a top speed with no details!!

This is the EGT I have on my Waverunner. http://www.racepak.com/ProdFrame.html

As for the scooter, http://www.tinytach.com/tinytach/index.php this works good for scooters.

As I have said from the begining, plug chops are the WORST indicater.http://www.racepak.com/graphicfiles/F2-D1_files/image004.jpg

Neat! Tak for the info! Now, how is it used in tunung/carb settings? I assume that the max rpm would indicate an opimal setting??

jered thank you for not blasting me as i am a new member to your forum. i dont have any proof of my bike doing 70, but if you where here in hawaii then i would let you ride my bike for yourself. i dont have any airsal parts on my bike and i am not into the stage 1 or stage 2 set ups. to me thats kinda fake. its either you goin race or street set up. heres my set up.

malossi mhr cylinder ( NOT THE REPLICA ) the real one singel ring, bridge port
polini evo pipe
polini 9 to 1 gears
polini big valve manifold and reed combo
dellorto 25mm carb ( yes the bike drinks plenny gas )
complete polini speed tranny ( the over range type with bigger pulleys and weights )
12" bi-whiz wheels
i plan on getting a top performance crank too because it has a 1mm longer stroke. that will help add a lil more torque.

hey lennox that is a super fast zuma on that site. i been checkin them out for a lil while now. thats not really a older zuma though. if you notice it has a flat motor like that new zuma's in the states. in europe they kept that body style and just put the better motor in it. to me those are the best zuma's. did anybody notice that zuma goes close to 80mph with a complete malossi mhr set up.

VINO vs. ZUMA-

We are having trouble getting a ZUMA over 50- not the VINO.

Not sure what or why but the VINO loves to work right and go faster and quicker than the ZUMA.

Zuma will beat the **** out of the vino if you use the right parts for it. Vino looks like a girly scooter zuma looks like a mans scooter. Is that right?

I am staying away from this one for the most part...

Zuma looks "sporty" IMHO.

Vino looks "retro"

Those on this board that have modd'ed their Zuma have had less success getting the same performance out of the Zuma as others have with the same mods on their Vinos.

MArk I agree with you...

The Zuma is a "dual-sport scooter" and the Vino is a "retro" scooter...

So girly or not... I think the vino looks better! Much better than the Zuma...

Also the Zuma... With the exact same mod is slower than the Vino...

However with more mods... It'll beat it.. I have more and more parts coming all the time to make mine faster...

I just want to thank everyone who keeps responding to this forum, I have sat here and read every single one. I hope that I can join your big family *tear*, Jered, if you have any advice you can give me about my new zuma, I would love to hear it, my top speed is currently 35 mph. (except when down hill, i burry the needle, lol). I've been reading up and considering polini or malossi, I'm new to all of this, so if anyone can help out, then plz, I would love to hear your advice. I was considering derestricting my zuma, but I thought, why not wait and upgrade to phase 1, wouldn't that just take care of the whole restricting thing altogether? Thanks!!

Welcome Bro!

This is what this forum and this thread is for-

A few are trying out a few setups. Once they get done playing I am going to buy the most reliable, powerful setup they have come up with. I think they are almost there.

I am going to get in the game here shortly and order some parts to try out to see if I can come up with the "best" setup as well.

Welcome to the forum...

I'm happy with the Power that my set up makes... however not happy with the top speed... I have parts on the way from provoscooter.com that should help push it over the top of my 60mph goal...

Will advise when that happens...

The stage 1 kit includes the variator kit and the exhaust kit (rollers, springs, etc.) It will take care of any "restriction" you might have... However there is still a large debate on it there are actually "restrictors" on the 04 zuma... I swear on my life there were none in mine... however King Vino says he has removed restrictors at a YMC shop he worked at...

I am rather suprised that your only hitting 35... I was hitting 41-2mph top on my stock Zuma, however it would get to 30mph on hills...

I think that there are nothing wrong with the parts that erich has on provo and in addition he has them "grouped" into easy to install kits... The hardest part of the stage one is figuring out your roller weight set up... Usually the ones erich sends out or in the variator kit will work just fine...

Let me know if you need more info... Jered

Lennox do you know what size of engine that scooter is in that video doing whellies? Can any one here do whellies on their scooter? That is one crazy scooter. I would love to make mine go this fast.

I do not know. My GUESS would be more than 70cc!

there was a debate about wheelies on here. I do not care hwat anybody says, the zuma in this video has TOO much power to be less than 100cc

XPS1210

to start... I looked on my car speedo... The 120KM wheelies... That's 75mph wheelies....

Holy ****e! I think I cuold pull a wheelie at a good 40mph and keep it up... However I am scared to do so... Seen a lot of crash video's, I love to watch others toast their 2 wheeled rides!

Anyway, I have pulled a wheelie or 2 at under 20mph and can ride it for a while... As in 5 or so seconds... I am just to scared to crash it!

As for the scooter in the video... There is no way it could be even close to stock... probably not even heavily modded... More like "RACE" modded...

Lennox that zuma is a 70cc bike. it has 100% malossi mhr parts. thats what i been telling you guys here about race parts. that bike only has a 21mm carb too. theres a website called heavymotoring that has the specs on that bike and even someother faster bikes. the bikes like vinos and jogs and others with flat motors can get up to 90mph with the right tuning and parts
