Scooter Keys run?

Now that winter is aproaching, is anyone interested in coming to Florida and doing a Keys run? If anyone is interested I will get the ball rolling. Start posting dates and such.

We could start in Florida City (tip of the mainland) and end in Key West.

lennox... I would love to... however the problem for me is the 10,000 miles that is between you and I...

Me being a poor mil man... I can't afford to ship the scooter and myself there... Maybe in a year and a half when I get out of alaska... Then we'll hook up...

Well, I did my own keys run this weekend, just got back....... Key West is the mecca for scooters. I saw at least one of EVERY kind of scooter........ I even saw a new Zuma pulling a trailer!!!!!

Anyone ever been to Key West???

I LOVE THE KEYS!!!

I go down there this time of year for 3 weeks but had to back out this year due to other things going on..... GGGGGGGGRRRRRRR

My best friend races offshore boats and the championship is down there around this time every year- 11/17 I think this year. There is also the Florida Powerboat Poker Run from Miami to the Keys and back in 4 days.

Key West/Duval Street is the only place I know of that you can ride a scooter while chugging a beer, wave at a cop, and have him say "nice scooter"

Also, Florida DOES require glasses to ride, but, NOT HERE!!

that's crazy!... I can't believe that those scooters were all in a line like that!

I saw 2 other scooters all summer... one was a honda metrocrapolitan... and the other was a larger 250cc or something crazy like that... one that was highway capable...

I wish I could find that many scooters in a single place here... I'd have to crap myself right then and there!

I'm in luck... only 8 more months and I get to leave the frozen tundra!

Haha, jered you needa take a trip to San Francisco. They are lined up like that, but instead of new scoots there are lines of vintage vespas and a few new vespas. Took a drive to SF one weekend, saw 5 vespa GTs in as many minutes!

Lennox I'd go in a heart beat man.... but I'm saving up for my MHR set-up (ohhh yeah :p ).

Hi everyone :)

Yes, hubby, the kids, and I vacationed in Key West several years ago. We all rented scooters and mopeds for the time we were there and had a ball. And yes... the island is swarming with scooters!


Keith and I did get the kids tucked in and went out to do the Duval Crawl one night. LOL It was fun!

Anyway, the Key West run sounds like fun. The distance issue is a big one tho... I'm a 1000 miles from south Florida now. :(

Maybe everyone could rent scoots... there must be scooters for rent in the Miami area!

Hey Lennox,

I'm new to the scoot world and am looking to be getting a second scooter in Feb '05. I've spoken to a few people who I know are also going to be getting scooters in early '05 that'd be interested in a Keys Run.

Can anyone imagine a pack of scooters shooting down the 7 mile bridge? Now there's A pic we need to get and post. :cool:

BTW we are in the Ft. Lauderdale area as well.

Just an idea,
Maybe do a one day rally at first. I'm up here in Martin County, the keys may be a bit much. We got 2 zuma's and an express on our dirt road and would love to meet some others scooter nuts.

I need to borrow a 4" reciecer cycle ramp and hang it off the back of the truck.

Lennox our here in hawaii there are scooters/mopeds everywhere you look. when you go on a moped cruzz there will be at least 50 bikes. most of them souped up and will do at least 65mph. 90% hondas and the rest yamahas. i would love to ride the keys, that would be the bomb.

from the tip of Florida to Key West is about 2-2.5 hours..... speed is not an issue as the speed limit is 45 or under MOST of the way.......

Well when it is warm this summer, I will try to come down to Florida and do the run. Hopefully the scooter will be running right.

I survived 5 years in the keys. I lived in Marathon. The pay was too low, the rent was too high, it was GREAT. I still go back every once in a while for some fishing or diving. My suggestion for a Key West ride would be to start it south of the 18 mile stretch, the drivers are worse speedfreaks than me!!! If you can't hit and hold 65- 70 mph, they'll run right over you. If you get a few voulenteers together, I'll try to join ya.

yeah, your right, definatly south of the 18 mile stretch...... when I went in November, I hauled to scoots to Key West in my truck and just rode around the island since there was only 4 people, and two scoots......
