Though I can't seem to find this particular aspect addressed: How do you mange to vay the RPMs with a CVT that's designed to keep the engine at the same rpm (in the power band) at most speed? IMO this is the most important thing about breaking in a new engine, a lot more than keeping it slow or avoiding WOT. Whether I go 25, 30, 40, or 45, the tach almost always reads around 6k. I speed up and slow down when I can, but there always seems to be a big cage on my tail. ;no

that's the point of there is not really a break in with these things...

I swear, many say to run 1/4 then 1/2 blablabla...

My stock zuma takes off at 3800, is the minimum for the clutch to start moving the scooter (at a crawl)... now normal take off 1/4 or more throttle is around 5000 rpms...

and then max RPM, downhill with my gears was 8500 rpms...

so there really isn't much variance anyway... let alone that you can control the engine RPM's anyway!

John, You are correct about the CVT and rpms. I think you just need to make sure you are not running wot on flat ground during breakin. This is where the rpms would stay most constant. The CVT will automatically vary the rpms on changing terrain. You have a tach on there so watch it and you will see how much it varies. I know that my GT5 revs at an increasing rate up to wot and that changes significantly depending on incline, decline, or flat. Not to worry though, I think by 100 miles you can ride it any way you want. I did and still do so enjoy.
