...Hi all...got my license today!! Passed the road test.

Now I have a restricted (L-1) class motorcycle license, restricted to bikes, like the Zuma, which have a 40 mph speedometer....(hehehe....) I note that the tester didn't say anything about driving with the speedo pegged....(if I go to stage 1, ...etc...)

The Zuma is listed in NY as a class A cycle, requiring a license, and I wanted to do the right thing, being a firm believer that an educated driver is a safer driver...my first cycle...

now you need to attend a motorcycle safety foundation course...

They teach stuff that you don't think to learn... like don't pull toward the direction you want to turn... push the handle bar the way you want to turn... This works best at 10mph or above and is teh "only safe" way to swerve!

Anyway, I believe everyone should take the class... it makes for safer motorcyclers and also regular 4 wheeled vehicle drivers as well...

If you move up to the big bikes or insure your scoot ...you will get your money back in the form of reduced rates on your insurance. I learned allot about defensive driving. Then when I took the coarse to get my motorcycle racing license, you learn "offensive" driving...(grin).

Oh, de scoot she BE insured, comp. + all ! About$200/yr. in Buffalo. And they gave me 10% off because of my auto driver course, which is good for 3 years.

I would seriously have to wonder if there would be additional discounts offered for the M'Cycle course, tho' that is what should be, of course.

2 ways I know of...

1st, take a written and a driving test (motorcycle specific)... Just let you DMV know that is the test your wanting to take..

2nd, take a motorcycle safety foundation course... The completed class is valid to walk in and have your picture taken, then walk out with a motorcycle license...
