I'd like to get a stiffer rear shock for my '04 zip. I see a lot of people have done this mod however I can't seem to find any. So if someone could pm me with a place to purchase, also what shocks are good? How do I know what size? What should I expect to pay? Thanks

you can get them everywhere just dont get the wrong length or if you do get a hijacker and lift the sucker up high, i have a 245mm mdi shock and its too short my indicator lense broke because it melted off on the exhaust

somone is selling a used shock for a Vino/Jog on ebay--looks a little shorter than the MDI one I bought for my Vino--might work on the Vento

you need to make sure you get one that is long enough or you will suffer in handling and ride...
I had a 245mm MDI and it was to short for the zuma... not sure how the vento sits compaired to the zuma in ride

Suspension my FAVORITE!
Ride height is a such a big deal and most people do not know what it is. When you crank up the rear end you can make a pile O crud handle sweet or a carver turn into a hospital ride.
Before speaking of the rear we need to look at the front. The angle of the front forks is key to how fast it turns and how it turns and holds a straight line. The angle between the forks and straight up is the steering angle. The smaller the angle (closer to straight up and down) the faster it will steer and with less effort. But it will also allow the road to pull the wheel one way or another and turn the bars on you with less effort.
Now when you raise the rear you effectively decrease the steering angle at the front which will quicken steering. Dropping the rear will make the angle bigger and the scoot more stable but harder to turn.
Now when the scoot squats under load in a corner or one end compresses more than the other end it can vary the head angle as well. This is also true when you carry a passenger or are hard on the front brakes leading into a corner.
