I am looking to get a scoot for back and forth to work. With Gas prices where they are, need to find ways to save. I really want to get a Suzuki Burgman 650; but dont have the cash for it, so the Suz dealer had several of the 150cc Ventos there. The one I am looking at is the G5 R4i Phateon. What are your opinions of the reliabilty and dependibility of these as daily drivers?

Vento's appear to be pretty decent.

What speeds are you looking to reach? for the price of these large 150+cc scooters... you can get a nice used motorcycle that will go well over 65 mph... unlike some of the scooters...

Well, The Phantera GT5, he is going to sell me for $2500, new. Top speed when he rode it was 55. The route I take to work, top legal speed is 45. My main concern is not being able to get out of the way if I had to. I love the mpg's I am told I will get...around 55-60/mpg. He does have a used SilverWing with 3k miles, traded in on a Burgman650 for $4800. The SW has plenty of power, and will do 70 with ease. MPGs are less, but still better than my van which sees only 14/mpgs...If I am lucky.
This scoot would be a daily driver for me. Its about 6 miles to work, in town, city driving. top speed is 40/45. ::handleba
I will probably want to buy a Burgman around Jan/Feb next year...then I could give this scoot for my wife or son......any opinions?? :dunce:

The silver wing is a 500 or 600cc? Either way, if you can afford the silver wing...

if you can afford to get the biggest you can... The $2500 is a good price... considering most people pay that for zuma's out the door...

If you have the additional money for the silver wing... it will last longer, ride faster... might get less MPG... but most people end up wanting more from their scooters... I can't see ever needing more then the silver wing can provide... but at the added $2300 that's a lot of gas...

Just take into account on a 45 mph road... that additional 10 mph it's capable of is not gonna be quick acceleration or able on hills... where the much larger engine of the SW, will accelerate faster as well as be able to handle hills without any worries...

Just take that into consideration...

Thanks for all the info. Based on what I see, I am going to try for the SW first. Its not the speed I need, it knowing I can get out of the way if I have to. Safety issue. But thanks for the honesty, I may still get the 150 for my son or the 50cc R3i. Time will tell.
