View Full Version : Which color did/will you buy?

If you bought or will be buying, I would like to know what color? Why? I just want to see what is the most popular color of choice for this baby. All colors are really nice. I'm thinking most people went for the silver to be conservative but I could be wrong. Post your thoughts if you find this interesting and fun.

I got the silver. I liked the red but when thinking about possible pin-stripes or decals I figured I'd have to be way to careful with the colour, but with the silver I figured anything would work.
I still haven't seen the blue in person but I really like the pics I've seen online. Maybe that would have been an option but I'm happy with my choice.

I purchased a 2006 Vino 125 back in early September. I got the silver (although I really don't think it's silver...more like pewter). Strangely enough, it's the IDENTICAL color of my car which is a metallic, gun metal grey. I now hog the garage w/my grey car and my beautiful grey scoot.

I just got my 2006 silver Vino 125 this past Sunday. I had a choice between the blue and silver as they had both on the floor. Silver, to me, looked better, so it was my choice. No regrets at all.

If I put a luggage box on mu Vino, would I still have access to my gas cap
Sorrow

Welcome, You would need to put a bracket on in which to angle forward towards the seat is the best way and would need extra support for the rack that comes with as it bends fairly easy. I would have supports come up from beneath the rack coming up from just either side of the gas tank cap. The reason I would have it raise forward so that it would not put extra stress on the rack. If you use chrome pieces for the supports and a nice substantial chrome bracket it would look very nice. I have looked into the carrier that goes on the ETON as the black paint matches the black paint of the Vino 125 perfectly and has nice contour to it. Or you could get one that has a quick release like the GIVI that does not need brackets but would need painting to match paint and also you would need to take it on and off which could turn into a pain real quick. You could also bracket the Givi. By the way what colour is your Vino?

01-04-2006, 04:58 AM
There are photos on the Vino 125 Yahoo group of people who have mounted Givi trunks on their scoots. You can set the trunk far enough back on the mounting plate so it doesn't interfere with the gas cap. Also removing the Givi trunk is very easy, since that is what it is designed to do. I have one on my Vino 50 and you just push the button and take it off and then snap it back on again.
Sorrow
01-04-2006, 02:54 PM
I agree with Sooznd, everyone that has a Givi trunk loves it. I went to my local dealer today to look at one close. The one I looked at it had a hole in the center of it that would match up with the gas cap with the 125. Regarding the gas cap it took a while to figure out an easy way to take the cap on/off. I found the best way is to line up the arrow straight up with key in then turn left 1/4 then twist key it will pop out easy. To replace put it back to the same spot and turn right 1/4 back to original starting point. If I do not do this it takes a while to find the release point in order to get the key out again. Sometimes it can take up to 6-7 times to line it up if not done the right way.

People in California are paying close to $3 K & more for them.
I hope I get some gas $ from Yamaha., too. The dealership where I bought mine didn't know anything about that promotion, only the financing promos.
How do I get my gas $$?
Regarding this poll--I marked Silver by mistake & it needs to be changed to Blue.

I doubt it--they have been making the black one for the Asian market for a couple of years now.
I wish Yamaha would give us more color choices.
Can't complain too much, though. Honda doesn't even provide anything better than the 80 cc 1980's styled Elite for the North American market.

Anyone been reading the latest reviews on Genuine's Buddy 125? Vino 125 has some real competition now.
Maybe. The Buddy 125 has been getting a lot of buzz and hype - the Genuine PR machine is certainly no slacker. But I've yet to read anything that convinces me it's equal/superior to the Vino 125 although some are trying to paint that picture. The couple of "reviews" I've read are questionable for reasons I won't elaborate on.
The few pieces of information I do believe give me the impression it's somewhat smaller than a Vino 125, with less seating area and less space to accomodate riders of different sizes. But it might have an advantage for smaller riders. Plenty of claims for good top end performance but everyone mentions the speedometer is fairly optimistic. Personally I'd like it if the Buddy 125 DOES have some edge over the Vino 125 is some areas - it does have a few neat features. Might make Yamaha apply the tweak machine to our Vino and improve the breed ;) But we won't know the truth about the Buddy until enough honest and technically competent owners start posting real data we can rely on.

Tony--good points. One of the reviews I read was of course by a dealer who sold those scooters. Biased.....;no ;)
When I read of a speed of nearly 70 mph on a 125 cc scooter, I kind of wondered if that was even possible.
The Stella owners I know ( 2 stroke 150 cc) report they reach around 60 mph. The Buddy and the Stella are two enitrely different scooters made by different companies.
I love my Vino 125 and don't care much for the colors or more sporty styling on the Buddy, but if this scooter will help to put more scooterists on the road, that's a good thing. :)

I absolutely agree that if the Buddy 125 puts more people on the road with scooters it's a good thing. And to some extend the hype surrounding it is understandable - you have to get people's attention to generate interest. But once you get past all that the product better deliver something to back up the hype. The chances the Buddy 125 delivers the type of performance currently being IMPLIED is pretty slim. As I mentioned in the Vino 125 Group it would be tough for a 150 cc scooter to do that. The Buddy 125 doesn't have any engine technology to cause me to think different. If they were particularly good at the "tuning" aspect they might have gotten a couple more mph than typical for an engine of it's configuration. Since the Buddy is a little smaller the aerodynamic footprint is less and that could get them a little bit extra. Show me the honest data taken with a GPS...
The other aspect is the buddy 125 maintenance schedule - I though the Vino 125 was a little overboard (probably to feed dealer service departments ;). The Buddy 125 has far more frequent maintenance or even replacement of items that a typical owner won't be able to do. I uploaded the schedule to the Files area in the Vino125 Group - you have to get a user account with PGO to get the manual.

Just as an FYI--for anyone who bought a Yamaha in a color that wasn't your fave--the side panels are relatively inexpensive to replace--something like $50 or less per side panel--I think you could get everything needed to change the color of your scooter for ~$200 or possibly less. As cheap as a professionsl paint job, plus you'd have an extra set of panels if you needed them..

Yes it was the one on Craigslist. Seemed like a good deal, came with the full extended warranty including all maintenance. I had looked a new Vino 125 several months ago but decided a new one "out the door" was a bit more than I wanted to pay. This was more in line with my budget.
I have owned several bikes in the past but never a scooter before. After I got it home I rode it a couple miles. Kinda fun o_o It now has 10 miles on it.

I'd love to see a nice green silmilar to the Buddy Italia series or even better a deep emerald green a metallic bronze or copper would be cool , too.

Mine's Blue. And I agree sooznd, they REALLY should offer more colors. This Silver or blue only is like asking......"What do you want for dinner, fried chicken or baked chicken".....Know what I mean.

I do have to admit that I envy Vespa and some of the other scooter manufacturers in that aspect. Seeing pictures of what some people have done to the paint jobs on their Vino's make me jealous.

The whole 2 choices of color thing is a bummer BUT in a way it's great. Kinda gives you more incentive to customize it.

Again, going back to that American Chopper episode with the Vinos. You should see the paint job Nubby did on Mickeys Vino. AWESOME. You MUST watch that episode Frankenscoot. When it's a re-run that is.

It's so cheap to get these panels painted. It's running me 150 for all of my Vento r3i panels. I dunno about the powder coating of the wheels yet. I have to order those. :x

If you bought or will be buying, I would like to know what color? Why? I just want to see what is the most popular color of choice for this baby. All colors are really nice. I'm thinking most people went for the silver to be conservative but I could be wrong. Post your thoughts if you find this interesting and fun.
07 came in 2 colors for 125 silver or blue so I got blue. I really wanted RED though

I wish they'd make a BLACK one. THAT would be sick.

Ithink I'd prefer a flat black almost old school hot rod primer color. Yeah black looks sharp but it's a pain in the but to maintain.

I know that at some point when I feel like tearing Sue Ellen apart and removing all her stickers i'll be painting her flat black and adding gloss black ghost flames. That won't happen for quite awhile though.

Wasn't Sue Ellen the *potty mouth**potty mouth**potty mouth**potty mouth**potty mouth*y sister in Gone with the Wind?
Wow, the word filter doesn't like the proper name for a female dog. :dork:

I think Sue Ellen was a character in the nighttime soap "Dallas".

I've always been a fan of the flat black look. Can't wait to see it when it's done.
