Ok, I hate to do this, and luckily this is not being posted because of any existing issues or problems, but we're growing pretty fast, and I'd like to head off any issues before they start. Like I said we haven't hit a wall on this yet but it's only a matter of time before we do. Keep in mind that these came from another board I was active on so I have to update them accordingly to go with whatt we do on here.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Rules:
Use some bloody common sense and don't post like you're a 15 year old girl hyped up on methamphetamines in an AOL chatroom and you'll probably do alright.

The Rules For Those Who Need Them Spelled Out In Painstaking Detail:

General Etiquette
These rules are meant as a guideline to help you not stand out in a bad way. As with all communities, we have our own set of members, our own way of doing things, and our own jokes, rules and other such things. It's always a good idea to lurk for a while before posting to any forum. See how other people act, what's acceptable, expected, etc. Trying to stand out might be fun, but if done in the wrong way it also attracts attention you probably don't want.

We value members who have interesting or informative opinions to contribute to the community. We don't care if you think you're the greatest scooter boy who ever lived. If you're as great as you think you are, show us by contributing to the forums in a meaningful way rather than telling us.

Before asking any questions, please take a look at this. There is some stuff there that isn't entirely relevant to our community, but it will go a long way towards us not hating you for being a complete dip**** who can't even ask a simple question.

We probably don't care about your "ASL" since we are not a dating service. If you're interested in getting together with some people from the forums to visit a local anime club, attend a local convention, or just hang out, make a post saying so.

Excessive antagonism of other forum users will not be tolerated. Keep it nice, we don't want any flame wars going on here. Posts which contain material that is hateful, defamatory, threatening, or otherwise deemed inappropriate or disruptive to the community by the staff of Provoscooter are subject to moderation and/or deletion by the Provoscooter staff without warning. Users also agree to never use another member's account to post messages or browse this forum.

Posting Style (AKA: "English, motherf*cker. Do you speak it?")
Proper spelling/grammar is a big plus. This helps people understand what you're trying to say. It doesn't have to be perfect, but at least make it look like you try. Obviously, English is not the native language of everyone and even native speakers are prone to mistakes. Simply try to spell properly. Try here for a good, free reference.

Do not use spelling short hand. This is often referred to as "AOL Speak" since. The message board is not AIM or ICQ or IRC. You are not within the bounds of AOL's system. You are not in a race. You can and should take your sweet time when posting. Some examples of spelling short hand are "u" for "you", "4" for "for", "r" for "are", and others.

Do not intentionally butcher your words. We're not your English teacher, but we don't wish to be subjected to your abysmal spelling just because you think it's trendy, unique, cool, or whatever. It is not trendy. It is not unique. The only way it makes you stand out is as someone lacking a reasonable number of brain cells. Some examples of this spelling are "kewl", "luv", and any instance of replacing "s" with "z". Occasional usage is accepted, but don't construct your entire posts like this.

Do not color your entire post. Use color for highlighting and emphasis only, if at all. We don't really care if you think that your post looks pretty in pink or red or blue, as it may not look the same on our monitor. Each member of the forum can select from various 'themes' which have different appearances, fore ground colors, and background colors.

Do not make your entire post very large or very small. Size is used for emphasis and headings, among other things. Making your post very small renders it impossible to read and making it very large causes it to be bothersome to read as well as taking up excessive screen space.

Signatures
First of all, sig pics in general are kinda frowned upon at this site. People come to this board to read the posts and make new posts. They don't come here to stand in awe of your sig pic. Too many sig pics end up just cluttering pages up. For that reason, most of our members stick with a small, text-only signature, or don't use a signature at all. And we'd prefer it if everyone did the same. At this time, we would prefer that folks do not use banners in their sigs to decrease page load times. There is still a good majority of folks out there that is still on dial-up.

Advertising Other Sites
This forum is not here as free advertising for your site. If a post contains little more than a plug for another site, especially if you are a new member, it will be considered spam. A moderator will delete the link, probably lock the thread, and in a few cases ban the user. A repeat offense will result in a ban, no questions asked.

If you have a website and want others to visit it, the best thing to do is place a small link to it in your signature and then make good quality posts on the boards. People will start to notice you more, and will be more likely to want to visit your site.

If you are interested in a link exchange/affiliation with this site, send Erich a private message. The site should have good content/layout and at least a few hundred unique visitors per day for consideration.

Individuals may post 'for sale' threads in the Lifestyles Forum providing they are reasonably well-established members of the community. Businesses are not allowed to advertise their products in forum posts.

Thank you for observing these guidelines.
