View Full Version : Vento Zip R3i stock rear brakes no good
Has anyone else had this problem with vento scooters? My rear brake is almost worthless. Any tips on correcting this?

Please elaborate. The rear brake only acounts for 25% of braking power (max)
It may just need adjusted. When you squeeze the rear brake lever, you will see a cable move under the tranny. Turn the nut on the end to tighten the brakes.
I was just wondering if I should be able to lock the back tire with them. Right now, even if I squeeze them as hard as I can, almost nothing seems to happen.

04 Zuma and I can't lock up the backs.
I actually locked mine up today. It was raining outside, and just to test, I squeezed the rear brake as far as it would go. The back-end slid a little, I released the lever, and that was that.

Get the Zip. Its not the Yamaha name but it uses alot of the same parts and can go a bit faster stock. Whatever you do please dont get the Metro...

Stock break, even rear, is quite good. Readjust your cable as stated, spin the nut inwards to tighten the cable and see how far you have to depress the lever for the brake to engage. If that doesn't work, time for new pads. Just had a shop do mine real quickly.

The Metro is a dog. It will do 40 tops and then you'll spend another grand to get it to be faster. With that extra $1000 you can get a full screaming bike.
It all depends on what you want. Do you want a small bike to be good for all city traffic or do you want one that will go real quick and have alot of performance parts? The Zip is a great bike for very heavy city traffic and the Titon is good for top speed riding.

well as slow as the metro is, out of your selection it is the most reliable because its a 4-stroke. 4strokes naturally are more reliable, especially when kept stock. but stock for stock a zip or triton is faster and probably more maneuvarable.

If you leave the Zip or Triton stock you can get 10,000miles out of them without a question. If its just for going behind a camper or RV and using in camps I would say get the Triton since your 6' and the zip is tough for 6' people.

Garbage. I think you'll be happiest with the triton given your size. I ride a zip and 2 up it's a bit cramped and I'm only 5'10" and the g/f is about 5'5". The strada rx8 is very similar but I've heard of some quality issues.

The Schwinn name was sold (Pimped out?) and doesnt appear to be an american Scooter. I looked at one quickly,(cheap parts) and didn't need to see any more. The Vento clones (strada etc) have very questionable metal casting quality. Remember the motor casting is everything..including the swing arm.
