I have a 04 Zip R3i that always has fast starts when first started then when is warms up it sometimes has fast starts, Other times it like bogs and then slowly builds speed and then about 25-30mph it will kick in.
What can be the problem?
Also, Something is draining my battery when everything is off.
Does anyone know how to tell me how to trace it down?
I would appreciate all your help.
Thankyou.

For the battery issue, try this. Fully charge the battery, and leave the RED wire off over night. In the morning, attach the wire, and see if its still low. If it is, its the battery(most probable). If not, and seems good, take the wire off again, and with everything on the scooter turned off, put a test light between the battery post, and the wire. The light should NOT go on. If it does, there is a drain. Things like a wet, or corroded connection or switch can do this as well as a fried regulator.

if you want to find out how much of a drain there is on the system take a multimeter and turn it to DC and then hook it between the battery and the red wire and go from there. like zuma-zuma said that rust can cause it in a light plug on most cars and truck thats where the problem lies most of the time in older vehicles...As for the voltage regulator youll have to know how much is the normal volts coming out to check that....

sounds like to me you might need to rejet the mid range....if it has one if not then i would say adjust the top end jet as the bottom end i think might be close or a little on the lean side...but i dont know alot about these carbs on scooters..

The carb that came on it new has no adjustments, It doesnt have a high speed or low speed mixture screw. Its a non-adjustable carb.
I forgot to add when it was new it didnt do this.
COuld it be in the variator or something?

You do have adjustments on the zip carb. There is a a/f screw thats at an angle next to the airbox snorkel and an idle screw that sticks out from the middle of the carb. Now, it does sound as though your midrange is a bit wacked so you might try raising the needle by lowering the clip one spot.

not true in my case. stock jet is plenty for bottom end. unless you are saying adding a pipe alone w/out vari, rollers, etc..
