well, I finally got to try out the parts I installed during the last Hurricane.
The parts include:
Airsol 70cc (blueprinted, port matched to gaskets, polished exhaust port)
Arreche 19mm w95 jet
Technigas 70 pipe
Drilled 3/4 inch hole in stock air box
Techno Variater with silver rollers
Kevlar Belt
I finally got to test the speed (non tuned)
I only took 3 short runs,
#1 49.6
#2 52.1
#3 52.2
These are all GPS #'s no wind 84 F 90% Humidity 200# rider elevation 6ft
once I have more time, I'll tune the carb, and play with roller weights. The "off the line" could be a bit better, but on top this ZUMA RIPS!!!! The powerband is AWESOME!

South Florida?
Need a free place to stay and some $$$$ while you are getting battered by these storms?
Come on up to MD- make my Zuma that same as yours!

if IVAN gets much closer, I am getting out of here!! I have preliminary plans to goto Pittsburgh and see my family. If you have the parts, maybe I'll swing in on the way?
If you dont have the parts, GET THEM!! It is easier to ask for someones help when you are 100% ready to go!

Didn't know you're a native Pittsburgher, that was where I was born!

I agree-
Just didn't want to have $500+ worth of things laying around rusting since it has been so hard to get someone to work on my scoot.
I know this is prob a dumb ?? but would you change anything you ordered for yours? I see post all the time that the Variater is bad or this brand of 70cc is junk and so on....
How do I get my 70cc blueprinted, port matched to gaskets, polished exhaust port?
I am 5'9" 195lbs and ride on slight hills most of the time.
I see what you and Jered have the same Airsal 70cc aluminum cylinder, Arreche 19mm carb, kevlar belts (not sure your brand but Jered has a Polini). You have a Techno Variater and not sure what Jered has.
Why different pipes?
I am going to take heed to your advice and order TODAY if I can get the package together.
Order what you did or change what or ___? Jered and King and whoever else pipe in as well PLEASE!

I got a different pipe because Erich's the man... He was out of the other pipes and hooked me up with a nice pipe as a alternative to the regular one that comes with the kit.
I have the same variator as lennox... no problems with it.

you can do all the metal work yourself, its easy. I'll take pics of a stock cyl to show you pics of what to do.
The only thing I would change is the HEAD. I would rather have one with an "o ring" gasket. That way, you can remove and reuse as much as you want. I have one here, but it is supposed to be for my buddies moskito. Maybe he won't notice if I "swap" them out.
I do have a new prob. I think Jered has a valid point about the belts. I have a mallosi Kevlar, and after only 20 miles, it is already starting to slip and shred!! I need to figure this one out. Heat IS an issue, this I already know! I am working on a vent system to solve this.
This is still a work in progress, but I feel confident that with the bugs worked out 55 is close!! With the upgear kit, 60 should not be too far either.
I will keep everyone posted!!

wow... glad I'm not crazy... Glad your belt is going too... well not really but nice to know it wasn't just me with that problem...
DAMN ZUMA'S!

you can do the stock one but.... you need a die grinder. I did the Airsol aluminum cylinder, and did not remove any ore than 5% of the material. My focus was on polishing and smoothing.
DID IT HELP?? I feel confident that it did. I did all my mods at once, but there are two others that have the same mods, and they are a good 3 mph slower. So, I think that this along with the other little tricks I mentioned make a worthwhile difference.

I have almost the same setup, except the head and cylinder work. I also have a polini speed clutch and hav taken three runs also:
#1 49.2
#2 52.0
#3 53.2
These are all GPS #'s no wind 84 F 92% Humidity 210# rider elevation 870ft above sea-level

The Stock roller weights on the Zuma are 6.5g
The techno vari kit comes with 3 different sets of roller weights
The silver ones = 3.5 g
The Black ones = 5.5 g
The brass ones = 9 g
These are the weights naked. Add 1.7g after fitted in the caps.
I drilled out the silver ones to get 2.1 g naked. This made a huge difference.
The "off the line umf" is way better now.

so you are running tiny tiny weights?
I had the middle ones in... and am unsure of the weights of the extra's I got when I orderend my stages...
I'm gonna try the smallest weights and see... But I though the light weights hurt the top end?
Probably not with the stage 3 power...

the airsal t6 is gone, the tranny is back to stock, the oil pump is off, I anstalled the C.M. 70cc kit.
So far this setup is ok...... until I get a new vari and clutch.
I am starting to dream about my Zuma and what parts to try next..... lol

I think when I can afford to do it... I'm gonna get one of the malossi cylinder kits from Erich... I'm wondering what it'll do power wise...
Watch there be such a simple answer to the under 60mph problem as the cylinder we are all using...
Lennox, you need to get out and test that new cylinder with all your stuff on it... NOW... who needs light to ride? HEHEHE! :p

its been hecktic here..... i'lll explain later.......
I have a 2002 zuma which has been stage two altered and kevlar belt after it ate the stock one in afew hundred miles. My bike will run at least 52 or more. Can you break the speedo by overwinding it? It has been clear into the odometer and then some. I have some problems. If I run it at high speed for extended times it suddenly just quits. Afterawhile it will start again. And the exhaust pipe from a company called tsl is way too loud. Starting about 35 to 40 you can hear this thing for miles. I exagerrate slightly, but once wound up it has awesome{compared to stock} throttle response. I am too mechanically challenged to do much of the work so I have a dealer doing most of it. I would also like to do the both lights on conversion. So, how do I make it quieter, different pipe that still allows better breathing, why does it stall when running extended high speeds? and are the michelin tires better gripping. With the additional speed I would like a stickier tire. By the way I live in Denver above a mile high. I would love to see this thing at sea level. It would really scream. I love my Zuma. Tim,
If your Zuma just quits after running wide open, then your motor has seized!! Even though you can still restart after it cools, it still had a light seizer. You can still ride it , but preformance WILL suffer. It seems as though your jetting may be off.
Ok, A quieter pipe, this has come up before...... what I do not understand is why you want it quiet. "LOUD PIPES SAVE LIVES" its a give and take, the more preformance you want out of a Little 50cc toy, the louder it HAS to be. Unless of course you have a leak at the cylinder/pipe??
