I bought a new 2004 Vino and I have a newbie questions. Anyone from the Alexandria, VA area? And if you are not mechanical incline ( :( ) where you can take the scooter to get some mods, i.e. better suspension, my kid is 6 and he wants to ride around the neighborhood with me, and even an stage 1 mod.
Thanks for any information.

I have been looking as well...
I am in Charles Co, MD and have no luck so far.
Everyone I talk to won't touch a Yamaha no matter what you offer them...
They are only able to get parts at cost so can't screw you on the profit side is what they tell me the reason is.
There is a place in B-more that I have heard is good. The owners name is Mark but forget the name of the shop. They told me my Zuma would be the 1st they worked on and it was like $700 for what would be a stage I for the most part- LeoVince pipe I think which comes with springs and weights.

If you got beer and can bring it out to Herndon...I can derestrict exhaust and install shock for you... I am not looking to do any BIG projects right now IE engine mods as I am in the final stages of completing my dune buggy and don't have the free time. I can knock out a derestrict and shock in no time.
If you are looking to get it done by a shop, there was a guy advertising on Craig's list a month or two ago to do that service...you might want to place a "wanted" ad on that site.
PS. my 6 year old and 3 year old love to ride around on the scoot too...the shock it a big time improvement.

Thanks but looking to go to stage II. I would go stage I but can't even find someone to do that so going straight to II once I find some one to work on it.
I have a Zuma (I know- this Vino thread..) so don't need a shock.

Frederick here, and I'm not mechanically inclined either. I did a part time summer gig at YMC up in PA for a few months, and hated it, and I sucked at it too, LOL. and I guess it goes without say that I have a Vino!

I can supply the beer that is not a problem at all. What I need to order? The shock absorbers from this website store or anyone locally will sell the right shocks, what else for the derestric exhaust? I really appreciate your help.

Ebay currently has 3 MDI shocks for sale--super price. I got mine there. The install of the rear shock is simple--just a matter of undoing the bolts and removing the old & replacing with the new. In terms of suspension, the rear is where you will bottom out on the Vino with extra weight and over speed bumps.
De-restricitng the exahust can be a pain---many of the Yamaha dealers will do it for you.
They probaly will not install an aftermarket shock, though.
I am surprised none of the local scooter shops will do the work for you. Here in Colorado, Sportique Scooter Shop will install all the upgrades on any scooter.
Good luck finding someone to do thework. You will love the changes in acceleration and smoothness of the ride.
