So anyone else been pulled over on there scoot?

Ive been pulled over twice.

one was at 1am in the city, got a ticket for riding on the side walk. Its along story but i wasnt the lucky one. MY friend didnt have his scooter licensed or regsitered or anything. Got a ticket over 1000$. He went to court and they took it all down to 150$ bucks.

The second time was last night around 12:30am. there were 4 of us crusing down the road and there was a cop standing on the corner with a radar gun clocking people drving by. (good thing it was 12:30 and we were the only people on the road) :p anyways they pulled us over cause they thought my friend was doing a whellie. He just said dont do it and have a nice night.

Anyone else?

I've been pulled but as soon as they run the NCIC shows I'm an ex-cop, I get a free pass :)

I just carry a "get out of jail free" card with me. Never needed it, but humor could come in handy at a time like that. :D

ready for this one guys your all going to laugh i pulled over for GOING TO SLOW!!! i was doing 39 in a 55 on one of our busy roads in the morning before i derestricted it of course but i was going to work and the cop flew past me stopped in the middle of the grass to wait for me to pass then he comes up behind me follows me about 1/4 mile or so then throws on the lights and i was like omg i must have like pull me over attached to my shirt i thought it was just on my cars but .. so he just gave me crap about riding it on a busy rode and he told me i have a 15mph leaway so if its 55 i can go 40 and not get pulled over so i am good now.

Most states have a posted (or non posted) law stating 45mnph as the minimum slow speed on four lane limited access highways.

What is the deal with Maryland mopeds. Do I have a chance buzzing around on a 49cc Zuma? I only top out at around 43mph...and that's downhill with my sail up and the wind behind me.

Currently no tags or registration.

WOW!

I have a 04 Zuma in Charles County, MD with tags and registration.

On my registration it says I can't ride on roads with a post speed limit of 50 MPH or above.

I have had 378294390324023 cops break their neck to see if I have a tag on my bike- which I do- and have not been stopped a single time regardless of the posted speed limit.

Maryland does not require tags or insurance on mopeds or scooters below 50cc providing that the scooter is restricted to 30mph.

just my 2 cants... and i might sound like an ass... but...

if your doing dumb stuff, as in riding on a side walk... you should pulled over.... and ticketed!

i also don't think there is room to complain if you do...

however those who follow the law and get harrased... complain...

i've never been pulled over and if they ever try... i'll out run them... oh wait... still toppinh at 48 mph... oops... that wouldn't last very long...

LOL~

I do agree with Jered on this one.

One other thing to add is that is makes us all look bad- scooter riders in general.

If I were to ride my scoot like an ***** in my hood then the rest of the scooterest in my area would be getting pulled over more often as well because "I" became a menace.

This is common debate on waverunners also. Especially rentals!! (no, not riding on sidewalks)

STAY OF THE SIDEWALK..... you can have just as much fun on the streets!

This question is for anyone who lives near of the National Airport in D.C. Can you ride your scooter at the bicycle path starting at the northend of Alexandria, until passing a mile or so from the airport. Side to side of the Potomac River? Or I need to ride my scooter in the GW Parkway?

I don't know VA law all that well, but knowing NPS as I do, and that the GWP is an NPS road (which means it has the absolute goofiest lane markings and signage as well as road design) I can't possibly imagine anyone wanting to riding on the GWP simply because the average Virginian drives 70+ in a 50! I'm pretty damn sure you can't ride the scooter on the sidewalk along the hiking path. Hell it's illegal to ride bicycles in most states (if you're over like 5 years old!!!) On a side note, I HATE the GWP!!! That has to be the single worst designedroad I've ever driven (The BWP is jsut as bad!)

um, well... it all depends on the local law... There should be a web site you can go to under your local state to verify if it was a legal ticket or not.

I was pulled over the other day by one of those stealthy radar gun cops. He had his car parked in a totally different spot from where the ambush point was so as to disguise his true location, which was hiding in the bushes down the road. He was on foot clocking people, and when I drove by he took me down for not wearing eye protection with a textbook response "In the state of Florida it is a law that all operators of motor scootors are required to wear eye protection" I told him that I couldn't agree more but had just sat on my sunglasses and was currently on my way to get a new pair! He told me to get the hell out of there and get some eye protection.

last summer i drove along with my roommates all in a car, to the beach, we stopped at a friend's house to pick someone up and there wasn't any more room in the car, (well, they could've squeezed someone on top of other people, but isn't that illegal also? not that that justifies this in anyway...) so my girlfriend and i doubled up on my scooter to make room for one more in the car, i didn't have her helmet with me though, but it was about a half mile to the beach, so we decided to risk it, she drove and i sat in back without a helmet, we got pulled over after about two blocks... cops everywhere around the beach in the summer... man, was that stupid.

the light on my street used to not change for scooters/bikes/anything not heavy enough to trip the sensor, so i would take a right, u-turn, then another right... a plainclothes cop pulled me over for this and was yelling at me, "what are you thinking going through an intersection like that?!!??!" i explained to him why i did it, that the light wouldn't change for me, and he calmed down, "oh, okay... man, i was gonna get all mad at you there for a second... but i guess that makes sense... just don't do it again." and he let me go. from then on i drove up to the pole and hit the walk button, and they've recently changed it to a motion sensor as far as i can tell, cause now you just walk by and the light changes... good thing he let me go though, as my license was suspended!

i'm just waiting in panic most every time i drive anywhere though cause i break a couple laws every time, like go up a "do not enter" street to get to my house, it saves me a stoplight and a couple blocks and you can see if anyone is coming or not, it's not really unsafe, you just aren't supposed to.. but one of these days, i can just hear the sirens behind me... hate it when there's sirens in the music i'm listening to while driving, that should be outlawed!!

Before I had my scooter I had a Tomos moped and I used to get pulled over like every other week. The cops around me are such asses. Yea I had a 70cc and everything but now with the scooter I have only been pulled over once for speeding. It's not like I drive any differently just a little faster with the scooter. Even after all those times getting pulled over I never got a ticket once, unlike Shayandaman.

I was just stating the truth. It's not my fault that he drives so bad. One day coming from your house he was driving his pickup and so he didn't hit the speed bumps, he drove over some guys yard. His dad was yelling at him so much in that truck. That was one of the funniest things I have seen, except for you running into the tree that day wideopen.
