NO! The Yammy guys dont care because were not spending 8k on a new bike. Guys who go out and buy an R1 spend a bunch more on accesories and on apparel after the bike, we dont.

I would pull the ignition or the seat latch assembly and just bring it to a locksmith. I'm sure they can figure out something and would appreciate the business.

Guys I work at a Yamaha shop have for the past 6 years. The Zuma key is very difficult to cut have your dealer get you a couple blanks and take the to a hardware store to be cut in a side by side cutter. Most dealers use a hand held key nibbler which does not work well an Yamaha blanks. Your dealer can order a pre-cut key with your key code from Yamaha it takes a couple weeks. If your dealer will not cut it I will PM me and I will give you my phone number not sure if this breaks Provos rules.

lol, yeah the yammy dealers dont care about us at all, Its obvious yamaha doesnt, I used yamaha financing, and its the most horrid thing ever, every now and then they try and charge me a late fee and say they didn't get my payment when they already deposit it. When I first got my scoot, they sent the bill to my parents address (over 75 miles away from where i lived) because thats where my credit report turned up, though I told them my current address, signed and dated all the documents, then they tried to charge me a late fee! Can't you remove the cover on your bike, and the vin is on the body, with that number shouldn't they be able to make a key @ some division at yamaha, then mail it to you? I just dont see how a LOCKSMITH in an icecream truck sized vehicle is expected to be able to make keys for a SCOOTER, best of luck.

My dealer won't even order key blanks let alone make a key... simply tell people to go to a lock smith... which IMO is really sad... but for buying stuff, and customer service... I'm 100% happy...
they sell MSRP and no delivery charges or anything... there is no tax in alaska... so IMO it was awesome walking out the door for MSRP...

Zuma Man,
Don't underestimate the skill of a locksmith. If thes guys in an "Icecream truck" can get into late model cars, houses and safes what makes you think they can't make a useable key for a scooter? I've used these guys in the past and granted what they give you might not be a pretty factory type key but, who cares as long as it works.
