I just switched to synthetic from my "Iraqi Dyno oil".
My plug was perfecto with dyno.
I just checked my plug and it appears lean since I ran the synthetic.
Is this normal?
Did you guys have to readjust your carbs when you switched to synthetic?
I'm running Torco. It was the nearest synthetic oil to me as I was standing at the casheir stand.
$7.50 a quart.

you may just be burning cleaner with the synth versus the dino oil, also that is pretty expensive for a qt of noname oil, i bought a gallon jug of Synthetic Redline for $25

is the plug whitish or does it just look smoother where the oil burns cleaner? before w/ dino did you have like sticky unburned oil on the plug?

I agree with better burning synthetic. But sometimes dirty burning natural oil can mask a lean condition. Lean can mean fuel/oil or fuel/air. If the plug is just a cleaner brown, good for you. But if its actually glazing the insulator, or starting to "clean" the plug itself, you might re-look at your mix. What are you mixing at now? Most I think are around 3%.

It's injected.
The plug with dyno was mocha brown just like it should be.
It looked just like the pix in Jered's plug pix.
I installed a new plug when I switched to synthetic.
When I checked it, it is whitish/grey/kind of sandy color.
I made sure all the dyno was flushed out before I poured the synthetic.
I guess It's time for a carb tune.
So the Synthetic will also form the mocha brown on the plug like the dyno oil?

yea it should as long as your tuned right. try richening up by raising the needle up. you might also want to check for any air leaks like around the airbox snorkel where it connects to the carb.

I've always had synthetic burn brown, but be careful of "cheap" one off brands. Sometimes they add other additives, for different claims. These will leave speckled deposits, or burn white with black spots on the plug. Use your best judgement, and find somebody else who runs your type of oil, and ask them about how it burns.
