So I was cruisuing down the road today at like 30 mph all of a suuden I hear like a bake fire or something POOF!!! And my scooter died I went to the side of the road and restarted it it started fine and I drove away. What is that sound that killed the engine? I rebuilt the engine recently and changed the MALOSSI REEDS. Im thinking some thing got cloged up in the carb or the reeds broke. But If the reeds broke dont you guys think it wouldnt perform well? First off all i thought something with the tranny or engine?

There is one way to find out, takes it apart and look. I doubt it is the tranny. IF the tranny broke, you will have serious trouble to get it going, unless the clutch got stuck or something, but it is very unlikly.

sounds more engine related... however not sure what it would have been...

the reeds, if they broke it wouldn't run as there would be no compression...

Can the belt get jammed up and kill the engine . Then it went back in place.
But the scooter performce at it use to nothing wrong with it.

The belt jamming seems to be the only logical thing. Are there any marks on the belt to support this theory?

Let us know if you find anything that caused this.

see thats what I think my belt blew up for... it jumped the front pulley and got caught in the front end and the rear continued to spin.... KAAABOOM...

however not 100%... the reason I think this is that the belt chords were all wrapped in the rear end and nothing wrapped up in the front...
