how many of you zip/triton guys upgraded your filter to a K&N i have one and its been sitting under my seat for months i just cant seem to get it tuned right to actually make my bike faster (if not just run stock speed), i have some bigger main jets and i moved my needle a clip richer but it still boggs bad. it used to cut at WOT but with a 75-77.5 main it seemed to run ok at wot but not fast.
how many have ported the stock head on the exhaust side? tough to do or can that little chunk be taken out with out removing the head,

thx for the info. i was planning on getting a k&n, but seems pretty pointless if you don't see any gains from it. does it atleast make the bike sound a bit louder?

with a stage 1 you can put a k&n on and you should see improvement but on a stock bike its crap because you too much air for the stock exhaust to push out.
as for porting the stock motor. it is possible and now that i have mine just sitting in a box i have but there really isnt much point as it just doesnt rev enough.

remember that you might need to upjet since it will lean your mixture out. also if it boggs then you might need stiffer springs in the clutch.

yeah you will proably have to upjet to a 77.5 main and move your needle a clip,
i have a 75main in there right now and still too lean at wot with a Technigas next R pipe, anyways that K&N is super loud i mean like REALLY LOUD the intake is louder than the exhaust, but you can fix that by adding some hose from the carb to the filter and move it under the seat or something

yea thats nothing, you still have a stock motor. when you get sucking more gas in with a bigger carb that intake noise gets even louder.

i hear you on that, my friends have Aprillia scooters with 70cc kits, 21mm carb (on one the other is a Ditech), gianelli shot pipes, blablabla and they are way loud and kinda sharp probably because of the pipe

well with cf reeds the throttle response is great. with 70's you have higher compression which gives a bigger pop pop pop sound, alot like a dirtbike.

loudness can be a good thing.
btw where could I get a 77.5 main jet??? K&N I could just order off their site, but I have no idea about the jet. And also do you have to take apart the whole carb just to replace the jet?
