rejetting... there is what is called a "main jet" on carberators
this controls the amount of fuel that gets through the carb at WOT. to rejet or upjet... simply remove the old main jet and install the appropriate size...
i currently run a 95 jet and am going to install a 100 as i have noticed some damage to my piston from still being to lean...
and as to what size you need... it's all trial and error...
the jet is located at the bottom of the carb in the bowl... depending on the carb you have depends on how to get to it... the stock one you have to remove a 4 screw and the whole bowl... the 19mm one from provo have an access holw that can be opened up.
blackvino,
did you derestrict your pipe? i'm assuming that is why you are inquiring about rejetting.
do you think you have to rejet? i know a guy here in ottawa who had to once he derestricted his pipe ... but i've heard of others who haven't. the weird thing is that we are all at the same elevation?!
let me know if you do...i've derestricted the variator, but not my pipe yet.

Just when I think I'm gettin' it...
I've read all the stuff on derestricting exhaust, but it sure sounds like a lot of people have'nt done this yet.
When You guys are throwing around the term "derestricted exhaust", you mean pulling the washer out right?
Or do you mean removing the stock factory pipe and putting on an aftermarket?
I'm going to re-jet my friends Vino.
Her new 2004 bike won't go over 35 mph! The exhaust washer was removed at the dealer, but it is still slower than Hell!
My stock Zuma rips right by her!
So what is it?
Pulling out the washer and running stock?
or Aftermarket pipe?

I have a 2004 Vino Classic,
And what I ended up doing is derestricting my pipe, by drilling out the washer, and then I took out the governor, which made a big difference. Before I did the work, I was topping out at 32 mph. When I was all done I was doing 40-45mph. I need to rejet and see if I can get it to go faster, before I have to by any upgrades. As far as the Zuma being faster, the Zuma was origanialy made in France. So the jeting is just a little different. At least that is what I was told when I asked my local dealer.
Hope this helps you.

Im thinking of getting a 70cc Malossi big bore kit. Do you guys think it is dependable as an every day driver. Do I need a bigger CARB? If I get the kit
I want to keep my stock carb and premix the fuel how does the premixing go?

when goign with a larger 70cc cylinder it's recommended to change the carb as well! The reasons are the stock carb on a 04 zuma is liek 14mm (I think) and it just can't suck enought air and fuel to keep the cylinder happy...
I personally wouldn't run a larger cylinder with the stock carb but some people do... just have to run a HUGE JET!

it's pulling out the washer and running stock. an aftermarket pipe is a whole different ballpark.
and in response to vinochick, if you're doing 40-45, you can't get any faster, not without aftermarket parts. you may wanna re-jet if you're running too rich or too lean (which you can find out by doing a plug test, there's a how-to on this site somewhere), but i'm pretty sure most people don't have to re-jet after derestricting... my vino came derestricted (new), though i don't know if the dealer also re-jetted it, i suppose i should find out....
