Just wanted to introduce myself on the Provo site. I am in Ohio and am a new scooter owner. Got to say it is perfect timing for a scooter considering gas prices.
Love the site and looking forward to reading all the posts!!!

Welcome to the forum, KSUflash.
Tell us a bit more about your scooter & then post some photos in the scooter garage. I have been hearing more about the Wildfires lately.
Target was even selling a 50 cc model.

My Wildfire is 150cc, it is my avatar actually. I haven't yet hopped it up yet. I am still new to all this aftermarket part stuff. I get about 70-80 MPG, and I can get 55 MPH on flat roads, 60MPH down hill, and about 40MPH up hill.
I am still trying to figure out in what order I want trick her out. I drive it to work on nice days and thats about 14 miles each way. I won't take it on the express way even if it were to go 80 MPH due to it is so light that I would get blown off the road by the semi-trucks.
I am looking to first of figure out how to make the ride alot smoother. It rides like a tank at the moment. Then I would like to tweak it so that it is quick off the line. I am not so worried about top speed. 50 MPH is plenty for the roads I drive.

lighten up your rollers, get a pipe, upjet, and get springs for your clutch that would make you happy i'm guessing for what it sounds like you want.

yeh that would be perfect combo of mods for good acceleration. Maybe a multivar too for midrange, but I don't know if Malossi makes one for this bike.

Haha,
go easy on the newbie here.....instead of me asking what rollers, upjetting, springs, etc.. are, I will just search the forums.....

hey whats up we talked earlier i think....as for the acceleration get the 9 gram weights for it...makes acceleration alot better but youll lose the top end a bit thats what i found on mine though....im going heavier weights like 12 or 13 grams to get better top end...i want 75mph so i can go on the highway with mine for short jounts if need be....the biggest improvment you can do for cheap is change to sythetic oil as soon as break in is done and get rid of the air filter hose and connect a uni air filter directly to the carb....and get a new spark plug a ngk model runs alot smoother then the stock one does...as for anything else ill let you know as the weeks go on and i get more stuff for mine........

here's the deal on the new vocab for ya so ya dont have to search as much.
rollers-the weights inside the variator which get thrown out from centrifigual(sp?) force causing the vari to move the belt up between it and the front finned pulley.
upjetting-when a motor is running lean(not enough gas/air combo) you make the main jet larger in the carb to bring more gas in.
torque spring-the large spring that holds the belt up in the rear pulley. the stiffer the spring the more force it takes to move the belt down in the pulley.
clutch springs-usually 2 or 3 small springs that hold the clutch together and the stiffer they are the more force it takes for the clutch to get thrown out and grab the clutch bell which make the rear wheel move.
i think thats about it for todays vocab lesson!:D lol

Hi guys,
am looking into buying a Phantom and have researched on the web. Down here in Costa Rica it is sold by a good bike dealer. How do I know the bikes here are 2005 models??? The bikes here have 2 tone seats as opsed to the pics I've found on the net. Don't want to get the 125 cc model. The engine number on the 150 cc model starts with 157xxxxx is that right??
Would use it to comute to work 20 miles both ways mostly on a highway for now, in march i'll move and it would be half higway or i could use back roads.
thanks for your help

a 2004 will have a 125cc engine in it with a vin reading 153 in it and a 2005 will have a true 150cc engine in it and read the numbers 157 in it..thats the only way i know how to tell the difference...
