So how well does the stock pipe perform on the Triton GT5? I mean, it sure looks snazzy to me, but is it a good performer? Would someone concievably want to go stage 1 with it with a technigas rs or something and would it make a whole heck of a difference?
Thanks,
Kyle.

This is something I have been thinking a lot about. Seeing how I am happy with the high end on the curve and am not one that wants to go ultra fast on a scooter, I will probably try to make stage one improvements in the tranny alone.
I can presently cruise on the flat at 51 to 53 and even hit 60 down a long steep hill. I am just trying to figure out how to get better takeoff and hill power. The stock pipe sounds pretty good also. Not loud enough to attract too much attention. Frankie, the manager where I bought mine, told me that it is not a true expansion chamber but is a little better the the other Silverstone exhaust on the R4i Triton. I think it would respond well to stage one + mods.

i dont know how much better the GT5 stock pipe is, but on the Vento webpage, both the GT5 & R4 make the same exact HP & Torque #'s.

the stock gt5 pipe isnt any better than the triton r4 pipe. you will benifit from an rs pipe if you got one.

It's a nice looking bike with the fake carbon fiber look everywhere. I like the plates on the floor and I really like the digital speedo and tach. The gt5 isn't much better than the R4 in performance though. I have an '05 R4 that had the stock carb upjetted and I was riding with someone and their gt5 and I was faster off the line, throughout the powerband, and 4-5mph faster on the top end.
That pipe isn't doing much or maybe they don't come jetted properly for that pipe. It would be cool to mod it out, you could at least accurately tell how fast you were going.

they are the EXACT same bike. the motor, carb, gears, tranny, all of it but the pipe and body is the same. weights the same. its just a matter of which you like more. if you put a stage 1 on a triton and a gt5 they would be the same if you did the same jetting pipe rollers and person driving.

the GT5 pipe isnt any better then the R4 pipe, according to Vento they make the exact same HP/Torque #'s. 4.9HP@7000, 6.8LBS-Ft@6500.
what you need to take into consideration when comparing the two is the weight of each rider. if you were stock, and your friend weighs 20-50lbs more then you, then you should be faster & vice-versa.

I think you give too much credit to Vento to think they have actually tested and published new power specs for the GT5. Likely someone sent a technigas pipe to the factory and said reverse engineer it. If they did a decent job, it should have substantially the same power gains as the original, IF they made all other jet/roller/spring/etc. changes normally done with stage 1. But who knows? If what was earlier posted is true, and its not faster, maybe it can be tweaked. However, I wonder if that one was broken it yet, as they are pretty new? It made a big difference in performance for my Zip R3 after several hundred miles breakin.

well, based on what several people have said(who had experiance with both) the GT5 isn't any faster then the R4....which leads me to believe that the exhaust isn't any better. Vento's websight reinforces that belief as the Hp/Torque specs are identical. as far as im concerned, the GT5 Pipe just looks cool, but isn't any better then the R4 pipe.
