I am just wondering so I can be grumpy all winter...
When do you put your scooter away for winter? On the 15th of September I can no longer ride... They close the roads to 2 wheeled vehicles!
Feel sorry for me please!

Never, I live in California! Some winter days get cold but I never have to worry about ice or anything. It just depends on how much insulation I want to put on. But eve then, we sometimes get nice winter days here in the Bay Area.

I move the scooter from the Scooter Barn to the Beagle Room which is heated in November. I ride accordingly with the weather.

I never stopped riding last winter. I did take the truck when the roads were icy but then I would pull out the scooter once the roads thawed again.

I live on Base and they close the roads here to motorcycles on the 15th... PERIOD!~ If your cought then they pull driving privilages on base for all vehicles...
WHICH WOULD BLOW!
Besides we have 4 inches of ice on the roads by the time it starts to thaw.....
So riding probably wouldn't be best in the 1st place.

Riding here might be uncomfortable, if not difficult, December through February. I live in North Georgia and we tend to get one or two good snows during this period.

Yeah but when we have to garage the scooters, we can always pull the snow mobiles out :)

You know it amazes me living in Maryland that 2" of snow is more devastating here than 8" in Pittsburgh because Maryland puts no money in to snow removal, and people can't drive in it!

The bad thing here is we get a BUNCH more snow than most places... We've had 3 feet fall in a 12 hour period since I've been here..
Amaizingly life keeps on going... hell I think we've seen 1 snow day in almost 4 years for the schools..
Worst part is living on base... the runway is the priority and they plow the streets last... So your driving over snow mounts everywhere...

Jered- what part of frozen Tundra are you in---Alaska, North Dakota?
I am in Colorado (& believe it or not) I rode pretty much through the winter last year. We get snow, but it melts within a few days.
I insure my scooter year round year and try to ride it at least once a week in the winter.

Anchorage alaska... the real frozen tundra...
We get 4 inches of ice on the roads... OR better...
Total we got over 100 inches of snow last year...
In addition I live on a military base and they close the roads to motorcycles etc 15 september...

GGGGGGGGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR
When do they open for 2 wheel'ers again?
It doesn't look like we are going to solve the 48MPH thing this year..
Once I find a shop to work on my scoot I will get a real meter to measure speed (any ideas?) or get it dyno'ed if I can or whatever so we can see what the Zuma will do and if it is worth doing.

Everybody knows that North Dakota is a frozen wasteland - not a tundra! A tundra is a truck, silly!

I'll usually stop riding around mid-late october. I'll start back up again in march.
Two wheel days get few and far between from November thru March,
otherwise any day it's mostly dry is fair game to fire up the scoot.

Indy
