05 Triton GT5, 300miles, vented tranny case, iridium plug, synthetic oil and gear lube, tops around 52mph. Slow off the line but that will be remedied with clutch springs, plus torque spring and maybe some diff roller weights.

Hate to burst your bubble Jered but I have spent probally alot more then you have that and mine is not air Cooled it is LC and yes according to the GPS 89 mph if you don't belive me I really don't care.

And honestly comon I am 23 years old i don't need to lie about how fast my zuma goes now maybe if I was like 9 I might cause then I would be cool but no 89 mph on the GPS

ill second that motion i would like to know what you got on it and how much invested thats just hard to beleive but not impossible if its used for all out racing and you rebuild it every say 10 hours or so...just post the specs man!!!! dont need a dyno sheet we all know what parts do what and how they work in a general sense so please enlighten us as to what you have done..

I looked at your signature... and I still don't see parts to make 89mph... heck pinky has a full evo set up and is not hitting those speeds...

guess you have that special zuma... you live by anyone who can meet with you to verify those speeds!?

I live in Wisconsin Right by Milwaukee so if anyone is close feel Free to verify these speeds cause I am not lieing about it I have no reason to.

And you know the key to getting alot of speed is tuning your carb to your pipe so you are always on your pipe and Jetting also the elemination of the Rev limiter helps

Well I can beat my 110cc np and my 125cc dirt bike it also helps my dad has been building working on and setting up 2 stroke Race bikes for the past 18 years you can get alot of power outta a little 2 stroke.

i'm surprised that you never got 70 jered. i got 65 w/o my gears in. waiting now for the machine shop to finish so i can get some new #'s. as for the 89mph evo bike there, i think its fast but not that fast. i would say 80-85 tops. i mean rydah i dont think is getting those speeds with his setups. maybe he is though. if ya are man props go to you for hitting those speeds!

I beleave him, If his dad has a shop and has been doing it for 18 year or so , you could do it. bench porting, Bench flow, Measuring and more measuring, making stuff light and stronger, Report the timeing on your Barrel, makeing your own piston stonger lighter, more comprestion, milling heads and such. it could be done. And it would take boatloads of time and developmet to do it. and money. But i think it can be done. You just have to have the right tools in your hands. Tools that most peaple dont have in the garage. But i do agree simple bolt on parts wont get your where he is at.

I was told by VENTO themselves that the 150cc 4stroke engines will cruise at 45mph with a 250lb rider. 65mph top speed stock for a lighter rider....seems WAY slow for 10hp.

Super Matty, that does seem slow. I weigh 200 and my 50cc GT5 will hold a good 48 on the flat with no wind. I am surprised that they would tell you a 150 is that slow even with 50 more pounds. But we are talking 4 stroke. Maybe some of the performance gurus will concentrate on 4 strokes when the two strokes are no longer sold new. :(

i weight 190 and i have hit 71mph on mine on a flat area but since i changed the rear torque spring im only hitting around 63mph but alot better up the hills

anothermbdusted, what year is your scoot? I'm assuming it's the same engine/tranny that would be on the newer Phantom GT5's?? If so I'll wanna get with you about some mods. Maybe the two of us can put our heads together and try to make some detailed info on 150cc's and 4strokes in general.

mine is a 05 and its a gy6 150cc engine...i know that the red torque spring is way to heavy for my type of driving and that i need the yellow one to be perfect so i need to order that one and then do testing from there cause i went from 71mph to 63mph just by changing that rear spring and thats just not cool to me....i even tried compensating by going to 2 gram heavier weights in the variator and it still didnt help so i got to order the right spring then give it another try...

<~~~ n00b, go easy on the terminology. I'm still learning about scooters.

Some helpful info for the newb: :frog:

torque spring is whats in between the clutch pulley. The stiffer it is, the longer it takes to pull the pulley apart to get the belt in top-speed position. The stock spring is too soft for mods, and lets the belt go into top-speed position at low speeds, therefore getting slow pickup and midrange. Getting the right torque spring will get you better pickup all around.

Rollers control the front pulley. As the motor revs higher the rollers go outward and push the belt into top-speed position. Having high weigh rollers gets you a good top end, but slow midrange and acceleration. Too light, and you'll have great low end torque but top out slower than stock. Find a good roller combo is also important when modding.

good info. With some mods like I've been mentioning 172cc cylinder, power cam and these transmission mods I should be able to gear the bike more for top end since the increase in power will help with low-end right?

Can someone suggest a good set of rollers and clutch spring for this type of set-up? Also, what about the "upgear" kit I saw on the site? I think it was for Vino though. Any thoughts on it?

on our 150s there is no gear kits that i know of at all if there is then let me know cause i havent seen one for these bikes as for the weight thingy how much you weight? do you got hills around you or what? it greatly depends on the riding you do its a hit and a miss to be honest i have 9,11,13 gram weights and i still yet to find the right combo so im figuring the rear spring is to heavy and not getting to top speed cause of it but acceleration is pretty decent in my opinion..

yeh a lighter spring might help, a 4stroke doesn't rev as high as 2stroke, so your powerband needs to fully pull the pulley apart quicker to work right, am i right?

400 miles and still breaking it in

anothermbdusted
09-16-2005, 07:42 AM
yeah thats seems right cause if i recall correctly the front one is used for the acceleration off the line and the rear is like a high gear for top end more to hold the gearing longer...i did it to maintain my speed up the hills better and it did help out alot but there was some draw back do to doing so.and i think a little lighter spring willl solve it for sure

well heck then the red spring i have might do you good possibly then cause like i said im only 190 and the middle weight spring is perfect ive been told for me so when i get it and if your considering getting one give me a yell

Vino Classic 2005. She's still in her break-in period and I mostly only have the throttle 1/3 open as suggested in the manual. I can easily go 35mph and even 40mph with just 1/3 turn. If I'm on a decline she will go 45 with 1/3 turn. Of course I'm guessing on 45mph since the speedo only goes to 40. On a straight away, she will go 45 with 1/2 turn. I ran her wide open (not for very long) on a slight decline and the needle went to the symbol for high/low beam. I figure that's got to be about 50mph. She's had no mods except to de-restrict. :yippy:
