So the stock bulb is a 35W H4 bulb...

Why can't a 55w H4 work? I hooked one up and the lights don't light up...

Why?

its burned out. :D haha, just kiddin. Have you ohm'd it out?

if the bulb is good, then this is mind boggling!!

I have 2 bulbs, both good that were 55W H4's and they both didn't work high or low beam... I'm thinking that the wires couldn't allow enough power draw but I'd still think it would have lit them up dim... You know!

55watts is its potential. Normaly if it couldn't get 55w then It would glow dim, I agree.

have you tried hooking them straight to you r battery?

you know, this maybe a dumb thought, but are our headlight systems 12volt?? there is a possibility that it steps down to 6v somewhere? Try a meter at the headlight plug.

yeah, the 35w bulds say 12v on them... I got an after market blue bulb but brain farted when ordering and got a single bulb... When I placed the order I though I was ordering a pair...

I don't want to spend another $17 for another bulb... As I already paid that for 1!

I just paid 17 at the dealership for a stock one. Now I know how it feels to be violated.

James you don't know the meaning of the word violated until you get married.

I am trying to hook up the headlights so that I have 2 for high beam and 1 for low but I cannot get the low beam to come on with the high. I have the relay connected correctly. Connections and ground is ok. Any suggestions? Is there a special relay?

Lennox

what is coming on?

cubtractor

Only the high on high and low on low. If i jump across and iliminate the relay both will come on together all the time. At low rpm the relay buzzes like the charging system won't produce enough juice to make the relay stay in contact. With higher rpm it stops buzzing. Just wondering if maybe you used a special relay for the lower voltage system? Mine is a 2004 model.

i am unsure why anyone is using a relay...

this is sooooooo simple it's rediculous...

litterally you take the headlight cover off, unplug the 2 headlight wires...

the pull the wires off the bulb...

look at the stock wires and see which of the 3 connections doesn't have a wire running to it... then notice the other connector and you'll see that the other one has a different wire missing...

to make both come on, you run 2 jumpers... to make one come on only you only run the high or low beam depending on what light you want borh or one on...

there is no reason for a relay... as long as your scooter is on the lights all work the same...

also i did get my 65 watt bulbs to light up... bu they took a long time to light up.... it's like they were on a dimmer switch, and slowly turned on... once on they were brighter but i want them to light as soon as i switched from hi to low and back.... instead of a 2 second delay...

I never looked at the back of the bulbs, but this does sound waaay easier.

good call JERED

One wire is easier. The reason i originally went with the relay is that i used to have a truck with 4 headlights and to get them all to work on high was with a relay.

I'D HAVE THOUGHT YAHAHA WOULD HAVE THOUFGHT ABOUT THIS... SUCH A SIMPLE THING... DON'T GET WHY THEY WENT SINGLE LIGHT PER HI/LOW...

then again cars are doing it too...

i only asked why because others did the relay thing too... just doesn't make since to me...

i did have to run a relay for my air horns... yes the scooter has dual air horns, they're behind the head lights and loud as hell!

Does zuma suppose to have both head lights working for low beam? I have one headlight working for low beam and other works for high beam is it how its suppose to be?

That is how it is made-

1 for low and the other for high.

This mod changess that so both are on all the time I think (I set mine up to have them both on all the time..)

I HATE the stock look- makes it look like one bulb is burnt out and cops don't like that.....

Jered you say the back of the bulb. You mean where the 3 prong connection is or where. This sounds like a good idea to make both lights turn on. :D

well hi folks just got this computer and man is there a lot of imformation on scooters any who you guys can get a universal three prong port for these bulbs at any autostore or at your local wallyworld for about three bucks.and as jared was saying its real easy to tell what wire does what, just wire the three wires together(the same wires)and your done. you can run the 55w bulbs as stock runs but they dont do well together.cheers :

The way I have described above is for both lights on at all the time, HI/LOW...

you can set it so both on only HI or only LOW, if you want, just use one wire accordingly...

It really is simple....

The 55w lights turn on but don't light up quickly, I think the scooter just doesn't make much power...

Also the air horns I have installed aren't as loud as the ones on my car... So I'm sure it's got something to do with the power input being less...

You horns air horns on your car?

Huh?

I have dual air horns on my scooter and my car... The car is louder than the scooter... even though they are the same exact horns...
