I have a 2000 Zuma
Here's what I think I have learned from reading the manual.
To remove the motor:
1. Remove seat, rack and rear covers
2. Remove exhaust
3. Remove carb
4. Disconnect 3 electrical connectors
6. Remove shock bolt
7. Pull swingarm bolt
Motor drops out
What did I miss?

think you have got everything dont forget that you should support the bike in some way under the floorboards with a floorjack or some kinda wood.
why are you taking your motor off?

I'm thinking about a stage 2 upgrade and it looks like I would have to remove all sorts of stuff to get at the cylinder with the motor in place. With the motor out, I can do it on the bench without breaking knuckles.

Actually..It can be fun if you are into tweaking...I have a rear Luggage bar on my Derbi..I just clip the Carabiner that is attached to my Workshop ceiling onto it and use the pulley to Hoist away..I can drop My motor in about 15 min..I have one motor in my scooter..and 2 on the Bench...You can also keep an eye on your motor mounts ...Grease..strange spring wear....
