View Full Version : To much power? Is it possible

Okay, you guys have seen the pics of my belt...
Is it possible that the engine is producing to much power, spinning the belt off the variator?
Just wondering as I swear it feel very stong... Hits the 48 range and then doesn't go faster but feels strong as if it's trying to go faster....
I'm guessing that the 48mph is where the belt is at the top of the variator... and it's not able to make the belt go higher...
Only thing else I am going to do is adjust the clutch I have and see if I can get it to grip a hair better... I see some marks that look like it might be slipping a tiny bit...
Also the rear pully is being fully used... The belt slides all the way down... I know this because I marked both pully sets with perment marker and they are now clean with no marks on them...
Any thoughtS?

We've been joking around in posts for the last half hour, but I'm switching hats here for this one. I wonder if in theory that this could be the case. I'm not sure. You're the first one on Provo to be staged all the way on the Zuma, and I can't recall anyone else staged out this far on here either for that matter except for possibly Ray. So my suggestion is to email Ray, since he's never on here (but is registered). Also have you called Erich yet? I'd be interested in what his thoughts are. The Zumas are still somewhat new ground on here.

no, I've tried to not get erich's number so I don't bug him... however it might be time to email him and ask for it...
seriously the only thing I could come up with is that it jumped the variator... OTher than that I'm clueless.. or the belt was bad...
 <----- so confused?!

What is a way to make your tranny run cooler? How do you vent it?

and leave it open?? i would think that there is too much dirt and debris that couyld gewt in
maybe two drain apn type screws. one at front, and one at back? this way you COULD close it in heavy rain or other dirty conditions.
SO JERED is this your conclusion? Too much heat??

What is your speed readings and what are you using to measure with?

my speed reading is 48 max on flat ground... I can get way above 50 downhill...
REading the speedo and a road side radar... Nothing like using a speed trap tool to test your speed!
I have compaired the speed radar to my car and durange it appears to be accurate within 1 mile an hour...
To answer the question in the quotes since I didn't... I couldn't tell if the belt was burnt... it was shreaded beyond recognition...
I will check the stock belt today sometime and see how it looks... I put 20 miles on it between 25 and 40 mph...

Too much power is it!!!! Ijust tore my tranny apart, and could not get the outer variater pully off, strange. After some "persuation" I got it off and realized that the inside was smooth. It USED to have splines. This is bothering me. Does Prove sell just the finned pully? hhmmmmm, I wonder if the one from my ZipR3 will fit.......

i got one... not sure it does anything but fix the broken blades when you break them

well, The Vento tranny is a tad different. Well actualy the crank is bigger. And all along King thought Vento's were garbage:p Last time I checked, the bigger and stronger a part was, the better it was!!:D

I think Geely's are more trash than Vento's. But remember your metallurgy, bigger doesn't always mean better either though. :p
