to start i'll tell you... i'm thinking of bidding on that however it doesn't change my reply to you...

as far as i understand the old style zuma's can have the cdi unit unplugged... so there is no reason to buy a aftermarket cdi unless you "want to"

unplugging your is the same as adding this one..

I have a 2001 Zuma.. where would I find the cdi unit, and what specifically would I need to unplug to improve performance?

it should be on the right side (as your sitting on it) under the side panel... Or that's where it is on an 04 model... It's a little black box with a group of wires coming out.
