i had a question does anybody now what the screw that sticks out on the carb do i caught my son messing with it and my scooter is acting funny I bealive it says leader its on a vento zip r3i is it soppossed to b a certain way i coud reach 45mph before but know for some reaSON i only hit 40mph can anybody help im confused thanx. :angry:

I don't have a Zip, or any scooter right now for that matter :( but it sounds like he (your Son) may have messed with your 'Air mixture" screw, turning it out or to the left which would 'richen' the air/fuel mixture and cause it to loose top end speed. But before you go twisting or adjusting anything I would wait until a resident expert chimes in :luvdoc: because I could be dead wrong.

it's the air/fuel mix screw...
you can turn it all in and then back it 2.5 turns out...
that's the "universal" setting for tuning a carb, then adjust from there... how did your kid get to the screw in the first place.... it's pretty burried...

it could be the idle screw too, but more than likely its the mix screw (the idle screw is the large one that sticks way out of the carb) the mix screw is the small one kinda at an angle in the carb by the filter tube
also if you want a little more speed for a little cash get some lighter better rollers than stock, and check your jetting on your bike both are cheap and can get you a bit faster

I am stumped also, but i checked out the spark plug and its black about 3/4 of the way down and the very top of it is brown, and it looks like theres oil around the rivets.If ya now what making the spark plug get like that?Let me know. I belieave its the idle screw i started to turn it towards the left and it shut off turn it to the right the idle gets higher and the wheels start going.Thanx guys ya r a big help to new scooter peeps. :worship:
