ok what exactly does a torque spring do?
because i installed a red one in my bike and now i lost major top end (18mph lost)and the take off is pitiful but the mid range is great any ideas?also it now seems like my throttle is holding the rpms for a while longer is this all normal?

looking at how the CVT works while working on it, it looks like the torque driver allows the belt to stay on the outside of the clutch at acceleration, but then lets the belt get closer to the shaft at higher speeds by compressing. while the variator at this point lets the belt get to the outside portion of the vari, effectively putting u into "top gear" in a sense, so you can get the most power on top end at that point.
sorry if thats hard to understand, kinda hard to explain without showing pictures, but I could visualize how it all works. As far as the torque driver itself, a stronger spring will let the belt stay on the outside of the clutch longer, therefore getting good acceleration. I'm not sure at what the red spring is rated at, but by thinking about all thats going between the pulleys are ur moving should give u an idea of what the problem could be.
This is also y i recommended working on this urself, instead of having a shop do it. It gives u a better understanding of the workings of the transmission and pulleys, etc. Hope u can make some sense out of what i said, gl! :c:

spring you have installed might be too strong, or your rollers are too light, i had the same problem when i installed a torque driver spring rated at 2k on a bike with just a vari at the time, i jumped up to 7g wich is a huge jump but it ran ok, i need to lighten them up a bit and see how it runs, im thinking about dropping the torque driver spring down to 1.5k,
also on how a torque driver spring works, it is supposed to help (the up rated ones) with take off after you let off the throttle then hit it, it helps "down shift" when the revs drop
