I know we got a bunch in the area. Anyone up for hooking up. I know it might be tough to get all of our scooters together in one place, but maybe just get a gathering together to hit the (National) Mall or something? Mark, Joe, DC Vino, and the guy on here from Arlington?

Sure I am up for it... I wont be around this weekend but but any other time. I can chart my course for our meet on the map looking for 35MPH or less roads or I can load it up on the rack on the back of the Suburban.

I'm in the Baltimore area and would be interested. I'm still working on getting a moto-tote for my Subaru. I don't want to drive that squirrel all the way to DC - once i get the tote...count me in.

Instead of that let's have a tech meeting and all of you can work on stage 2'ing my scoot........
I am up for it some time next year- busy man and booked solid for the next few months.

That's not a bad idea actually Mark. Get a fall gathering or something, kick back some beers, and do a tech thing.

I'm in DC (duh! ;) ) and I'd love to ride or else to watch magnificent mechanic machinations! Maybe even participate in slinging wrenchs if it doesn't look like I'll do TOO much harm.

We just have to fly Jered out here too :)
BTW: Jered, I split the thread, figured this way you might be able to arrange a meet in Washington State. Since this thread was Washington DC, I'd hate for anyone to get confused. It'd would suck if a few people plan to meet you in Washington State only to show up on the National Mall :)

RAIN SUCKS!
GGRRRR
Side note- still have not ordered any parts because I can't seem to find what is the best combo out there...
King Vino
09-16-2004, 07:05 PM
Yeah, well a fourteen day work week on midnights sucks more.
marylandmark
09-17-2004, 12:35 PM
OUCH-
that sucks... I remember the days when I was younger I had to do that-
Riggs Road/North Cap Street next to the Ft.Totten Metro there is a MCI building I worked at for 2 years.
11PM-7AM Wed- Sun
295 to South Dakota Ave to Riggs- FUN drive trying to to get killled...
On a brighter note- I am going to order some parts today!

Hey Mark, what do ya think of meeting out your way for the gathering instead of in DC itself, might make for a more interesting ride afterwords. Then we can show these boys what life near the bay is like with a bay dinner?
What do ya all think?
marylandmark
10-05-2004, 06:43 AM
That sounds even better for me!
I am in the process of letting Jered and Lennox spend boat loads of $$ so they can tell me the best set up to purchase. ;)
Once they get it hammered out I can have a build party to stage my scoot, go riding and then get the biggest #1 Jimmies this side of Kent Island on me for everyones hard work on my scoot.

LOL, you want 600k for your house. You got 15k in toys, but you don't want to spend 250 to install a stage kit, LOL. We all head out there and you're buying the crabs :) LOL BTW: Nice job on the site, and I'm glad there were no nude shots. Elise was however disappointed!
marylandmark
10-05-2004, 12:02 PM
HAHAHAH
$250- more than happy to pay that! WHERE?
I called your buddy Mark at that one shop in B-more. Close to $500 for a pipe and the install- which I was fine with. What I didn't like was that they have never worked on a Zuma, don't mess with any YMC bikes for the most part and so on. I didn't want to be his guinea pig. NOT that they are not good and I have heard good things about them- just prefered to have someone that worked on Zuma's before. I am not desperate enough yet to go that route but not ruling it out at some time either.
I don't want to say $$$ is no issue, but some bucks to get my scoot rolling is no problem. The problem is finding someone that will work on it that has YMC experience, finding the "best parts" combo so I can get that mid 50's speed without flying in a mechanic every 100 miles to rebuild and so on.
I am waiting for riding season to be over (at least for me- even today at 60 is too cold...) and then I have a few ideas up my sleeve...
If it comes down to it ~ KV ~ will be at my house working on my scoot- $$$ talks and I will PM Elise a figure that she won't let him refuse!
MMMMUUUUUUUHHHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

I'm amazed that Mark wanted that much, that's high for even him. I recall Mark told me last year he never worked on a Kymco either before. there months later he became a dealer for them. Go figure. I'm willing to bet any YMC dealer would do the work on it. Criswall in Germantown or any other. Theer's got to be a YMC dealer in Upper Marlboro.

That's good El, lecturing me on spelling with a spelling error in the lecture, ROFLOL :p For those of you who don't know, this is a running joke between Elliott and myself!

There is Atlantic Cycle about 2 miles from my house.
They say they don't want to deal with it so I left it at that..
If someone doesn't want to work on my scoot, trying to make them is not the best option.
I think I have it covered- have a secret weapon going on right now and will be posting when it is completed.
Too cold for me so going to start getting some thing done on it for next season.

Around Thanksgiving I am going to kidnap a tech that is going to be passing thru Maryland. I am going to hold him hostage until I see 55+ MPH on a GPS regardless if I have to hold him until the Spring thaw when the streets are clear of ice and snow.

Yeah right, I terrified driving my car on 95, yet alone to ride a scooter on that damn road!

I have traveled 95 from start (just south of Miami) to Rhode island..... and I will say that the worste strech is from Miami to Palm beach. Unfortunatly, I drive 40 miles each way on that damn 95 every day for work:( Why is it that Hatians ALWAYS drive 40 in the fast lane???? When everyine else is doing 70ish? They are by far the worst race when it comes to driving skills.........

10-26-2004, 05:51 PM

marylandmark
10-26-2004, 05:56 PM

Ready to be installed!!! :D
HHAHAHAHAH
I am still working on what is the "Best Street Zuma Setup". Well I am not working on it, someone else is and when they find out they are going to share that info with me and hopefully even install it on my scoot in their travels....

Scooter is in pieces at this moment...
I don't have all the parts ordered yet but started to tear it down anyway to prep for shipping....
Been a REALLY busy Winter for me and I have way too much on my plate right now but trying to hold it all together and get my scoot ready for this rally- whenever that might be.
25 degrees right now at 6:51AM so I am not that bothered- too cold for my blood anyway.

Did you really? That's a brilliant idea. Memorial Day weekend, right? Saturday or Sunday? (I know, I know. I'm totally out of touch with any signs of life in town. I have been hiding from the grey and only recently able to sneak out of my lair.)

I was going to take my scoot to Fire Up and Thunder Out (http://www.fireupthundrout.com/) which is a pre-party for the ride to DC. My scoot is having heat issues right now so not sure if a DC ride would be the best thing for it. I might be able to tag and insure my 124cc BWS by then but will have to wait and see...
