I want more displacement and torque. I doubt the 70cc kit makes a huge difference. How big of an engine could be swapped into a tng venice?

you have options. you could actually get around 100cc with a little grinding on stock cases. you'll need to grind case and drop in a different crank, then the big bor cyl, and a few other tricks, and youll have all the power you can handle.

changing an engine is a bit complicated, but anything IS possible.

Or, you could just supplement your scooters with a Vino125.

Why would you buy a 50 cc then bore it to hell spending as much as you would for a larger scooter? Even if you get a larger motor, you've got to get a new transmission to fit the motor, and change the gearing and basically rebuild it from the ground up. One thing I've noticed about scooters that were made with larger engines and more power is that they are much heavier and much more stable, because they are engineered for more weight and more speed. I would't ride my venice at 60 mph even if it could go that fast. All it takes is a gust of wind or a truck with a trailer going by to blow me to the other side of my lane.

Why would you do it...to be different thats why.Just imagine for a sec,you and your buddies are sitting at the signal light. There is a guy on a vino or other scooter in the lane next to you.The first thing that goes through your mind is,"damn,i wouldnt ride that slow ass liquor cycle for nothing".All of a sudden the light changes, and the guy takes off like a rocket.Your friend in his souped up rice rocket cant even catch up or keep up.Thats the thrills i get every day on my scoot. And let me tell you,its priceless.Espically when they come up at the next light and say,"holy ****,that thing is fast!!!"Like I said, priceless.

Now as for the engine swap.It can be done, but you will probably have to modify the frame, unless you go with the same companies motor from bigger scoot. The cdi and other goodies will have to be swapped as well. The bigger motor will give the scoot a little more stability.

P.S. At 60mph,when a tractor trailer passes me either way,it doesnt blow me to the other lane.

Why would you buy a 50 cc then bore it to hell spending as much as you would for a larger scooter?...I can think of two reasons. You dont need a drivers license for a 50cc or less scoot in most locations and "I guess" if you ever get in trouble w/da Po-lice the VIN of the scooter would come back as 49cc.

You kids are all hopped up on hormones. :D I have to look at the financial risk in all of it. One wreck and your insurance company hands you a check that won't cover the cost, not to mention how fast they'll drop you if they find out about the larger motor. Maybe I'm just pessimistic.

just wait until the 4-stroke vino comes out!
Then the engine swapping will be old news

I ride with a few Honda Ruckus(zoomers) owners and they are having a helluva time trying to make their scooters faster.
Do you think provo will get into the 4-stroke aftermarket parts?

It's all a matter if there is a market for the parts. Part of the reason there are few parts for the Honda's are that the Metro just doesn't have the following that the 2-strokers have.

Keep in mind the ban on tu-strokes only applies to sales on new scooters, existing tu-strokes will remain legal to own, and ride on the road.

I hope not. 4-stroke 50cc just does not make sense. The 2-stroke is far superior in that you get a power stroke on every revolution and not every other revolution. When it comes down to it performance parts for a 2-stroke 50 will always be more effective than for a 4-stroke of the same size...

More strokes is not better...more strokes is more friction, more parts, less power (for a given displacement)...the only down side is higher emissions from the oil and unburned fuel...

Comes down to $$$$

The USA is going to only 4 strokes and outlawing 2 strokes in 2006 I think it is due.

If they sell at lot of scoots in the USA they have no choice but add a 4 stroke line.

They will still be able to sell the 2-stroke as long as it meets the same emissions output standards that the 4-stroke has. The most likely candidate for this would be the DiTech engines that Aprilia sells since they are fuel injected and supposedly pass Cali emissions with no problem.

When I borrowed a 4 stroke 125 for my drives test (Utah has that if you take your test on anything smaller then a 70cc you can't drive anything bigger then a 70cc). I was not impressed with what it did i thought it was quite weak.
