My 05 zuma with exhaust and stock (modded) variator seems to loose power after riding for a while. Almost like it doesn't want to rev. when I fisrst start riding if feels fine, revs great. then after a long full throttle pull it doesn't rev, almost like the weights have been changed dramatically. And Ideas?

check your weights... they probably have a flat spot that is keeping it from working correctly...

mine wore out after about 500 miles (with my O/R kit)... so it's very possible you just need new rollers.

Check your plug. You could be lean, running way too hot. To be on the safe side, raise your carb needle a clip.

I don't think it's lean, cause on lets say a 20 mile trip it will run great for about ten of the 20. could the belt be loosening as it warm up?

Not likely, but it can get very hot in that tranny case on a long ride. You should vent it, right after you look at your plug. As Jered pointed out, you could have flat rollers. They die fast in high temps, like you get in an unvented case on long rides. Everything in there cooks and can act erratically.

Is there a vent kit so it sucks air properly or is it just a drill out hoping water and dirt don't get in there.

Drill holes or cut ot holes,Make a scoop over it, then screen the scoop if your that worried about dirt or debrees.

Water and dirt aren't a problem, unless you go through a knee-deep puddle. Then, your clutch will slip until it dries out. The more cooling you get, the better. I only have 40 quarter-inch holes, and could use more.

I can add that when I had weights that were too heavy, the first 20 miles were great, then the heavy weights would prevent the motor from reving up after the tranny got to normal operating temprature.

After going with lighter weights the problem completely went away, and I have no changes at all.

I have this same problem when it gets over 90 degrees out. My '02 Zuma is still stock though. It runs fine for about the first 5 miles and then when I come to a stop like at a stop light and then give it gas to take off again, the motor sounds like "blaaaaaaaaaa" (like it's bogged down) then finally after what seems like a long time, it finally gets up to speed. So it's the rollers? I just thought it was the cylinder getting too hot.
