Ok, I am a little late in changing the oil in my scoot, but I have time to now, and not sure what I should use. I use synthetic oil for my mixture and have been thinking about going with a synthetic oil for the tranny. What is a good brand to use.

I use Castrol TTS for the injector, and I know that Castrol has a good syn. gear oil, but not 100% sure what type of oil is to be used for the gear box. Any input would be nice.

I am running 50w in my Atlantis..Probably too light for Florida. I wrote down 75-90w that I saw somewhere for Derbi. I might change to this soon.

Yeah 75-90w weight is what most people are using on here, ive heard that using 10-30w oil can do damage in your gears.

Many engineers earning molto bucks designed your engine, and specified the transmission oil to be used...use it, per the manual, and relax...

I ask this question a while back about my 05 Zuma and decided to use 10w30 synthetic blend (Mobil). After reading more on the subject, I decided to switch to the gear lube and used 75w90 synthetic blend to be on the safe side. I think the comments about the tranny being noiser made me change my mind on the oil vs the gear lube. I did notice the extra noise with the oil so for the small quantity used I decided to go for it. This forum rocks with good info. :worship:

Well I ended up going with the Castrol MTX 80w synthetic gear oil.....did not take near as much as I thought it would though....did not even hold a full quart, which I think is a little wierd personally, I thought would hold just over a quart. Of course that is without looking at the specs on the Derbi.
