Just got the Michelin S1 Tires mounted on my 01 Vino today. I read here that they will help improve speed but the speedometer won't show it. Any idea what that difference might be? I'm sure it not a very big change, just curious.
BTW the dealer questioned that the tires would even fit the Vino and asked where I got them. I assured them that that had been used on other scooters without problems and they came from a reputable shop.
I also asked if they could do the variator deregulation and they had no idea what I was talking about!
They'll be a great help in the future!

You paid someone to put them on for you?! WOW! your rich...
I have my own tire tools that can be used to change rubber easily on scooter tires... They cost me all of $5.00 plus $3.50 shipping...
How much did it cost you for the change over?
If you need someone to walk you through the deregulation PM me and I can try and walk you through it... The pipe and the washer are pretty simple if you have the standard tool kit... I don't have a strap wrench I have used Vise Grip wrench with all the repairs... However it's easier to break fins and stuff with using my method...
The thing is with the tires is that they are spinning more tread diameter than the stock ones so the speedo is showing slower than your actually going... It all depends on how far your scooter was off to begin with but it's probably no more than 2 or so MPH on the top end... Best case would be to run by a speedo box.... the little white boxes the cops set out... But I don't know if they are around where you live... I am fortunate enough to have one somewhere on base at all times to check my top speed... When I get it above 50mph I'll post a pic of the sign showing it...

I spent a year asking this question and no one would answer, so I said the hell with it and used a LYDAR gun from the MPD, and found where my Vino was 2mph slower than the speedo, after I put the SAVA on my speedo was exactly correct 30mph was what showed on both the LYDAR gun and the speedo, waggery as on the old tries my speedo showed 30mph and the LYDAR was showing 28mph.

Of course I'm rich. My secretary is writting this for me!
No actually I just know my limitations. Taking the exhaust off and taking the transmission apart (maybe)are more my speed. For some reason wheels and brakes scare the heck out of me.
I'll try following the instructions posted here for the variator and Jered if i run into a jam I send you a message.
Thanks for the offer.
BTW I only had to pay for 1 hour of labor. 1 every expensive hour of labor.

As long as your happy with the wheels... It's all gravy!
